It is not worth giving up a 4th and 29th in round 1 just to get #2 so we can get Matt Leinart. I hope the articles that are reporting that we want to do this are not for real. If we could get the first overall and take Reggie Bush then I am all for it because of the fact that he is head and shoulders above all the other prospects. By no means is any player inm the draft a sure bet, but Reggie Bush is probably the safest bet and I personally think that he can come in and perform in his rookie season, which a QB likely will not be able to do. If we put some decent blocking in front of Bush all he'd have to do is run like hell, but for Leinart there are so many more variables that he's have to learn to account for before he can be good. If we can't get #1 overall and take Bush then there's no point in giving up #4 and #29, both picks that can be used to draft players that can fill 2 spots right away. If we are offered a player and a lower pick for #4, I think we should consider it because it doesn't look like we are going to take D'Brickashaw...

I agree. 4 and 29 for Leinart is not a good deal. Personally I think they will trade down. However, this QB and Williams stuff could very well be a smokescreen. There has not been much talk about Brick, and it could very well be that we are targeting him.

I would say that if a team in the top 10 offers us an o-lineman or a LB or CB and their pick for #4 we need to look at it....

  4. I agree. I don't think we'd give up #29 to move up 2 spots. A 3rd rounder..maybe..but a 1st rounder for 2 spots is awful value.

Our best bet is to stay where we are at, at all 5 potential pick and go BPA

If Leinart becomes the QB he is capable of becoming the 29 pick for him would be the steal of all steals..

We have way to many holes to fill to use both of our first round picks for a QB. Build the Oline or a stud defensive player like A.J Hawk for the new 3-4 but please dont trade up this year. Go Jets

I finally agree with you Jtuds. Either keep what we have or trade down and to between 6 & 17 plus whatever extras.
Its a deep draft in the first couple of rounds so the more early picks we get, the better off we will be.

Which is why N.O. will probably want more, and would get a better offer

If the Saints wont take our #4 and lets say a 3rd/4th rounder then we just dont do the deal and pick at 4.

I've been saying it for weeks. Tangini is taking a "lunch bucket" type approach to building this team. Trading up for the Hollywood Kid just doesn't IMO fit into their football personalities. If they do anything, they are more likely to trade down.

You may be right but I don't see NO trading out of the top 5 which leaves us and Tenn fighting for the spot. I can't see Tenn giving up more than that to move up a spot. We'll see though..

It more depends on who they want and the offers they get, because looking at this from the N.O. POV this deal would be weak, I would at least want another 3rd along with it

We don't need three potential starting QBs on the team next year.

Agree Jtuds. Trading up would be a bad move with all the holes we have.

I'd draft Leinart at #4 if DBrick and Mario are gone, but definitely wouldn't trade up for him. In fact, I'd like to trade down to anywhere between 5-9 and pickup an extra day 1 pick if possible. Bush, Leinart, Dbrick, Mario, Hawk, Davis, Ngata, Bunkley, Cutler would all be good picks, and one of them, if not more, will be there at 9.

Stay where we are, or trade down. Unless we can get the #2 incredibly cheap, which I doubt.

I agree, but for the fact that Leinart is supposed to be the next Brady, which Tanngini has got to see as a positive. In the end, I think the decision is going to come down to: why do we need to grab the second pick when the fourth pick could be as good if not better. They'll stay where we are.

First of all, if we trade the #4 and the #29 we should be getting the #1 and not the #2. But, I am in dis-favor of doing that. We are fine at #4. I just can not be convinced that our staff is that ga-ga over Leinart that they are willing to part with 2 first round picks (well 1 really) just to move up 2 spots. I really do not think Leinart will be there at the #4 position though.

I do think Cutler and Young will be there or at least one of the 2. As far as whether we take one of them; wow, what a crap shoot. Off-hand, with the trade for Ramsey, I do not think they will do it. I see them going for AJ Hawk or Super Mario.

If they trade down, they may opt for White or Williams and then start ramping up the offensive line in round 2.

Don't be at all surprized if we trade the #29 pick on draft day. It could happen.

They should trade that #29 pick, it's an awful pick. What are we gonna pick another Justin Miller? No thanks.

We'd be lucky to get a player that is like Miller, an elite kick returner and future #1 CB.

He's an elite kick returner like the Jets are a 16-0 team this season. Can't even hold on to the ball.
