Hugh Douglas calls Mike Smith a racist slur

I would think that they wouldn't just suspend him, but fire him. If they don't, they make it impossible for any of their talking heads to say anything about incidents like Cooper's in the future. It's not like there's a single human being on the planet who watches ESPN because they want to see Hugh Douglas.

I only watch ESPN for the sole purpose to watch Hugh Douglas say Nagger.

 

I stand corrected. Perhaps all the Douglas fans can find YouTube clips of his ESPN brilliance to help them get through the night.

 

Basically the guy called him an uncle Tom aka white on the inside. Who knows maybe he's right. This wasn't as bad as the Cooper thing.

this isn't even a racial issue, from where i see it. it seems like more of an oppression thing.

one group being oppressed sees certain people within the group as weaker so they get that label.

can't even compare this to cooper, imo.

 

the sad thing about apologists is they don't even realize they are just as racist, but how they love to hear black people degrade one another as n1ggers.

 

not all black people call each other the N word. And im sick and tired of people saying forgive and forget. Blacks are the only ones that do that shit. Talk about a Jew, you're career is over or any other group. But blacks? Naw, lets just move on. This also goes with the Cooper incident.

 

what would you want the reaction to be in this situation?

a riot? how many black people would label both of these guys the same thing douglas said? that, i think is the reason it gets dismissed: the mentality that once a black person gets into a career among his white "oppressor" colleagues he suddenly becomes a sellout.

or moves to the suburbs, or becomes a vegan, or goes to college, etc. different people draw the line in different places, but there is still a line drawn.

that's the point. the uncle tom comment is intended to convey the same thing as Cooper's comment -- to degrade the recipient and portray him as inferior to the person making the claim.

Cooper's comment was easy -- you're a nigger and thus inferior to my white superiority.

Hugh Douglas' comment is that Mike Smith isn't black enough, or black at all, and thus Hugh Douglas is a superior black. Smith is not a true nigger, he is a house nigger Uncle Tom, and is inferior to Douglas and his standard of what it truly means to be black.

that leads to the question of what it truly means to be black to Douglas and anyone that would make such a comment? what type of behavior or attitude makes Smith inferior to him?
