I doubt Howard Green got much of a lucrative deal.

even if it was vet minimum, I can't imagine the Jets offering much more to Brunell.

I'd like to think Kellen might be part of some draft day deal, but I don't know who would want him. We managed to dump Ratliff last year so who knows. At least teams know Clemens can hand off successfully in the NFL. Maybe we can get a 7th round pick in the 2027 draft.

We can use that pick to draft Wayne Chrebet's son!

Might give us 800k or so more on top of Feely's contract to try to get Sharper.

There's a good chance he might trip over a yard line even before he reaches the RB. That 7th round pick in 2027 might be steal deal for us.

NO. The signings do not accumulate the amount we can spend on one player. It's one for one and two for two deal. To take advantage of that situation, you have to sign two UFAs at 1.5mil and 800k, not one at 2.3mil.

I doubt if Marc Bulger is ready to take $800k - 1mil a yr.

EDIT: Never mind...I thought we were talking about Bulger. Brunell isn't much of an upgrade. Rather have the 58 yrs old Vinny than the 39 yr old Brunell who was nothing more than a little above average even in his prime.

Brunell made a little over 1.5million last year. Doubt Howie signed for much.

It's a good thing no one was discussing him, then. We could sign Bulger to any contract since he was cut.

True. Question is though what do we want as a backup?

An older player(39) who played better, and was more successful as QB?
(7 respectful years) At 39 dunno if he can salvage a year if Mark #1 goes down.
    Mark Brunell stats

    OR

A younger guy(33) whom didn't have that much of a career.
(about 3 *good* years) At 33 he would be able to salvage a year if Mark #1 goes down.
    Marc Bulger stats

And Brunell is going to command much more? As long as he got more than Vet minimum I think the Jets have a shot.

Wey've had Brunell in......who we can't even sign yet.....and haven't had Bulger in, who we could sign whenever we want.

I think I know who the FO prefers.

Heh. How about get rid of Kellen for a 7th, and dump O'Connel. Keep Ainge on the roster, and try to bring in Brunell(pray to God Howard Greene got a 1million+ contract), and Bulger. That'd be great.

Yeah, at 39, he better be ready to take vets minimum.

Uh, that's not the point. Someone brought up Mark Brunell signing for the amount we get from Green, and he said Marc Bulger wouldn't sign for that amount. The two have nothing to do with each other. We'd be able to sign Bulger to any contract we'd like, so he'd have no place in the conversation of who to sign with Green's exemption even if we WEREN'T talking about Brunell.

^Yeah that was my bad. We had some Bulger talks earlier this month on this board and somehow assumed we were talking about Mark Bulger and not Marc Brunell.

my point is who would we want... not including money or anything. it has been reported that Brunell would wait for the Jets til June22(or July22) whatever it is for the restrictions to drop.
