After hearing Coughlin mumble through an explanation of how their great coaching lead to the Hail Mary reception, I realize that I can't take a year of listening to the Giants' bullshit. The Jets need to get better fast. How will FO respond to this Giants run? Will they ignore it? Will they stay the course and stick to a long range plan? Will they over-react and waste time going after Peyton Manning?
Easy use it as a excuse to give Sanchez 8 years to finally develop. I can picture it now "well look at what Eli is doing after 8 years Sanchez surely will do the same so buy your psl's now".
Worst thing the Jets can do is be reactionary. The Jets should worry about the Jets and not be controlled by what another team does...such things would lead to a disaster.
I guess well respond by saying something along the line of "We have to play him at least twice every year" after Brady rapes the shit out of the Cmen in the superbowl
Except all Rex does is worry about being the best and being better than the Giants so expect the biggest, craziest overreaction ever in the offseason, the Jets are going to pull something crazy just wait and see. That is if the Giants finish this run with a Lombardi of course.
Again who cares. If the Giants lose next week or in the SB, everyone will go back to piling on them just like the Jets the last 2 years. In NY, its either you win it all or you get shit on. There is no in between.
They've already done one thing that the Giants did after Eli Manning's disappointing 3rd season: they fired the offensive coordinator and turned over a lot of the staff on that side of the ball.
Not so sure Why do I get the feeling that Giants' two SBs and 3 NFC championship games since 2000 will be regarded as a significant long-term accomplishment, while the Jets run will be looked at as a two year blip, especially if they don't come through next year.
Rex has to take a note and learn a thing or two from this. Like I have been saying all along, you need the following ingredients to succeed as a defense, which Jets D sorely lacked. 1. Discipline - it comes in various fashions; ..1-1 No stupid penalties ..1-2 No blown assignments ..1-3 No missed tackles 2. Intense pressure with 4 men rush - 3 down linemen and 1 OLB will be equivalent. Especially Jets are hurting big time at #2. Their down linemen are not ferocious enough to warrant a double team, and they do not have a stud OLB to go after the QB down after down. For this reason, I'd like to see the following, at least: 1. I would like to see Jets haul in Kendall Langford - then Mo Wilk/NT of your choice/Kendall Langford will form a ferocious three down linemen. 2. Stud OLB is again, sorely missed. Unless the defense can sort that out, the defense will look mediocre again.
