I've had a pretty good year so far, but heading into the last six weeks of the season I'm in a position to just annihilate the rest of my league. I started 2-3 as I tried to figure out my best lineups, and sat through some dismal performances from Carson Palmer at QB. I had drafted Big Ben, but I obviously needed to wait a few weeks before I could use him. Still, my team was still really good, and a trio of moves made during this time set me up for my current 5 game winning streak. 1. Traded for Arian Foster two days before the season started. The whole deal was Chad Henne, Santonio Holmes, and Mike Bush for Carson Palmer, Eddie Royal, and Arian Foster. Foster has been my feature guy all season, and his presence allowed me to make another big trade after week 1... 2. Signed Mike Vick right after his performance in relief against Green Bay. I knew that he would start at some point in the year, and I wanted to be on that bus when it happened. 3. Traded Michael Turner for Roddy White, straight up. Tough to give away your first rounder so early, but I had Foster, Jamaal Charles, and Cedric Benson at RB. Plus, it gave me a disgusting starting three at WR of White, Greg Jennings, and Brandon Marshall (even though BM's been miserable at times). Then, my most recent moves have put me in a spot to turn my current 2nd place standing into a championship. 1. Traded for Antonio Gates. I dealt Benson, Michael Crabtree, and Dustin Keller to someone afraid of Gates' injury, and also pulled in Seattle's Mike Williams. 2. Signed the Green Bay Defense and Reggie Bush. A desperate fool dropped them to make room on his roster during last week's bye as a final attempt at a playoff push. 3. Signed Vincent Jackson. He's been dropped and signed about 4 times this year each time people thought he'd be coming back. Now, people were afraid to cut anyone so close to the playoffs, but my 3 for 2 deal left me an open spot on the roster to let him sit until his week 12 return. Right now, my roster is as follows: QB- Vick, Roethlisberger RB- Foster, J Charles, R Bush WR- White, Jennings, Marshall, M Williams, V Jackson, S Rice (just in case) TE- Gates, Heap K- Cundiff Def- Green Bay And on top of everything, signing Jackson and trading for Gates basically eliminates the advantage my biggest competitor has in Philip Rivers. Was this post unnecessary? Yeah, probably, but I'm pretty damn excited. I have a deal in the works for LeSean McCoy that will set me up in a major way for the last few weeks (sending Bush and one of my WRs). And if you're saying, wow, the people in your league are stupid... Yes, they are, which is why I have to win. They're all coworkers, and I can't risk not putting them in their place every year.
Nicely done. No one in my league trades so my team hasn't changed much from the beginning but is finally coming into it's own and spanking opponents. QB Schaub and Bradford RB AP, McCoy, Best, Deangelo Williams, Pierre Thomas WR Calvin Johnson, DeSean Jackson, Braylon Edwards, Jeremy Maclin, Brandon Tate TE Dustin Keller K Folk but I change week to week DEF changes every week Because of QB inconsistency and opponents having monster games against me I'm 6-4... But lead the league in scoring
I do the same thing with K and Defense changing week to week. Last year it worked out beautifully, but this year it's been a lot less effective for some reason.
Your team started 2-3 and is now 7-3. When I have won leagues, that's usually how it went. The dominant wire-to-wire teams I've had usually did not win titles. My most dominant run came in 2005 in a stakes league. I had a team win 8 of its last 9 games. Look at the scores- 74-65 100-72 115-58 125-65 112-116 97-86 121-94 (playoff game) 142-84 (playoff game) 138-70 (title game) Excluding my team, the average score in the regular season was 85.7 points per game. That illustrates how outrageous were those 142 and 138 totals. The most interesting thing? That was a 5-loss team I had there.
Loving my one league thats in second place since I didnt pay attention to it but pretty damn stacked. QB:Orton, Garrard, RB:CJ, Foster, Tomlinson, Brandon Jackson, R. Brown WR: White, Bryant, Collie, Colston, N. Washington TE: V. Davis, Keller D/ST: Bears K: Janikowski
your team is sick. i started off slow...0-2, but have been 5-3 since. one of those losses was because i stupidly sat kenny britt the day he went bananas, despite playing him the past 3 or 4 weeks before that. 6 teams make the playoffs, and i'm teetering in the last two spots, but given my opponents schedules i should slide in there and anything can happen. I made a few clutch late round picks in Britt, Manningham (now especially) and Mike Wallace. Wallace dropped to like the 7th round or something. Mark sanchez was also a big waiver wire move for me. i play in a big bonus league (per carries and per reception), so my RB's have kept me in most games even when they put up mediocre numbers. i have QB - Flacco/Sanchez RB - Rice/Mendenhall/Wells WR - Jennings/M Wallace/Britt/Manningham/Steve smith car/Jabbar gaffney TE - Cooley (had olsen but dropped him) D/ST - eagles and cardinals K - had kaeding but dropped him for gould who's been solid
I started real slow in what is basically a 12 team 2QB PPR league (start 1QB, flex can be anything including a QB). We play two games a week to keep things interesting. I drafted Stafford and Henne, Stafford going down week one got me to a 2-6 start. I also had trouble with the defenses I drafted (Dallas and SF). Someone dropped the Bears during their bye week so I picked them up. Now my QBs are Jon Kitna, Shaun Hill, and Troy Smith. I am only 10-10 now but racked up 172 points last week. Here is my current team: QB Kitna / Hill / T. Smith RB Chris Johnson / Jamaal Charles / Matt Forte / Thomas Jones WR Roddy White / Mike Williams (SEA) / Santana Moss / Nate Burleson TE Ben Watson / Tony Moake DEF Chicago Bears K Matt Bryant / Lawrence Tynes Should be interesting down the stretch.
10 team league or 12 team league? I'm having a huge year in fantasy, other than the TGG leagues of course... QB: Rodgers RB: CJ, Rice, McCoy WR: Harvin, S Moss, M Thomas TE: Gates That team is 10-0. I also have another 10-0 team, not quite as good, but still pretty beastly. All 12 team leagues. Return yards count in this league, so Harvin has boosted value.
My league is full of a bunch of pussies. They don't understand you have to give up value to get value. No one trades because they're so scared of giving up any name. Which sucks...I have Aaron Rodgers and Vick on my team, and NO ONE will accept any trade.
In a 10 team league I started 4-2 now I'm 4-6 QB-Shaubb RB- Foster, Moreno, T. Jones, Woodhead(FA), Lynch(FA), Jacobs(FA) (Had Grant but went IR then picked up and released a dissapointing Jackson) WR- Fitz, R. Moss, Edwards, Branch(FA) TE- Davis K- Janikowski D- Philly I put up 100+ points every week but I am 2nd in points against. Shaubb is disapointing and I never filled the 2nd RB role... and when filling in with TJ he would give me shit but ALWAYS produce on my bench.
Started off the season with a horrific loss, my team only scored 50 some points and my opponent pretty much doubled my score. Now, I'm 8-2 and in first place in a 12 team league. Just swung a trade that has my team looking like this: QB - Philip Rivers WR - Andre Johnson, Mike Wallace, Vincent Jackson, Deion Branch, Mike Thomas RB - Ray Rice, Jamaal Charles, Reggie Bush, Shonn Greene TE - Dustin Keller K - Nick Folk DEF - New Orleans, Seattle
Oh, I know what you mean. In this same league last year I started 0-3, but from there I went 9-2 to finish as the #1 seed and eventually won the title (average playoff victory by 35 points). Mine is a 10 team league. I'm guessing yours is too, but I still can't imagine how you get Roders, Gore, and CJ all on the same team (unless maybe you had and traded Foster). I hate when people don't want to make any trades, especially if they're one of those playoff bubble squads. I try to convince them that what they've been doing clearly isn't working, and they need a spark. Trade Deadline time is the perfect time to strike, because those teams really start to get desperate. And on a better note, if any of you are reading my initial post for the first time and are wondering what I'm thinking now with Marshall's hamstring injury, no worries. I traded him a few hours before the game today. Overall deal: I sent Reggie Bush and Brandon Marshall for Steven Jackson. My team is now: Mike Vick, Ben Roethlisberger Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles, Steven Jackson Roddy White, Greg Jennings, Mike Williams, Vincent Jackson, Sid Rice, Deion Branch Antonio Gates, Todd Heap Cundiff Green Bay D Awwww yeah.
The trade was processed already? If so, then that means the commissioner makes the decision on trades. If you had to wait for league approval, then the trade would not have been processed yet. I bet that people would veto it due to Marshall's injury.
QB Michael Vick WR Roddy White WR Reggie Wayne WR Andre Johnson RB Adrian Peterson RB Arian Foster RB Steven Jackson TE Vernon Davis K Mason Crosby DEF Green Bay BN Santonio Holmes BN Shonn Greene BN Ryan Fitzpatrick BN Sidney Rice BN Pierre Thomas This is my team in a 10-Team Keeper League, Keepers were AD, Andre Johnson and SJax. I had a great Draft, picking Roddy White, A. Foster, M. Floyd and Eli in the first 4 Rounds. Obviously picked up Vick. also picked up Torain and Blount and then tradet them after they had good games, and when Vick was back healty, I also tradet Eli, when his stock was high, That way I aqired Wayne and V. Davis.
Actually, no, my killer team is a 12 team league. Drafted CJ. Traded Mendenhall, Orton, and Tomlinson for Rodgers, Mathews and McCoy. Traded Torain, Bowe, and Owen Daniels for Ray Rice a few weeks ago. Surprised people didn't veto it. And there you go! And I have to edit that, it's not Gore, it's Rice. I almost traded Rice for Gore, but it got vetoed, which was bullshit, but whatever.
Jesus dude... is the other 9 teams mentally retarded? That team is the best I've seen in a long time.
But it was because of my poor coaching. I fired my offensive coordinator shortly after the game, and starting calling my own plays.....
