Since Coples will play the 5-technique, how much would be saved by cutting DeVito? I want some cap room to bring back Edwards and Leonard, even if we take a rookie at those positions.
$3.1 million per http://www.nyjetscap.com/salary.html Edit: I cut off the last 10k to shave a second off my time and beat LTJF to the punch
I'd like to keep him too as he's stout against the run, but he's probably not going to be in the game on pass rush downs. We probably have some leverage to get him to take a pay cut at this point ...
According to the Jets salary cap site its about $3mm. All along it looked like he was the most likely to be a cap casualty. The question is do they cut him and re-sign him to a lower contract and bring him back. While he's not a flashy player DeVito is a solid guy and should command more than they'd pay him on a lower contract if he is cut.
No real reason to cut Devito...Best of rest makes the team....All about the competition. I will say I like Marcus Dixon better than Mike Devito. I think the thing to realize is that Rex dooesn't run a conventional 3-4 defense, which may have 3 nose tackles as your front 3. Just still need OLB pass rusher.
With Dixon and Coples on the squad, given we will still have holes to fill after today we should use the $3M for Leonard and Braylon.
I'm pretty sure they offer him 1 million and the Pats sign him for 1.5 as he trashes the NYJ on his way out the door... I've seen this movie over and over.
Who did that? Shaun Ellis was the latest Jet to go to NE and I remember him just saying he wanted the money the Pats offered him, 4 million.
what the hell are you talking about? The Pats have picked up a TON of former Jets over the years and the only guy they really had success with was Woodhead.
If they think Dixon can be a Baller as for cutting devito and saving 3.1 mill if that means we can bring back in jimmy and Bray Bray im game for it
Why would anybody trade for somebody who will probably be cut and/or is in the last year of their contract?
