I expect somewhere around 7-8 but I just ant to see him and Mo getting pressure, if he's hitting the QB and making him antsy in the pocket and only has 3 sacks I'll be happy w/ that.
I'm going to go with around 6. If Maybin gets more sacks and is able to get more pressure than its a win in that department. I would like to see what formations we run on passing down Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
i was thinking 3-5 before i saw the choices.voted 4-6. i think he is going to be inside on obvious passing downs which may keep the totals down, but will hepl the pass rush overall
8 sacks. With Rex moving towards a 4-3 it will become Coples job to kill the QB, unlike his roll in a 3-4.
I think he can be a force on the DL. Our DL is very good in that you won't be able to focus on just one player and I think he will be able to dominate his side. I also expect Mo Wilkerson to have a big year as well.
Because he's a 3 down player I think he'll see a ton of snaps and have more than enough opportunities to get up over 6. Given his talent level, I don't think it's unreasonable to think he could get 7-9 in his rookie year.
Based my 10+ on a lot of optimism and the fact that 3-4 is out the window. If MoWilk can get 3 sacks in a 3-4 set, That number should close to double this year. There were 15 4-3 DE's that had double digit sacks last year in defenses that were not Rex Ryan's. I don't see why it's ridiculous to assume Coples can be among the top 15 DE's in the league next year. Mo & Co will get 15+ Sacks btwn the 2 this year.
It's def not but he can get 3 sacks and if the defense can generate more rush Coples is already benefitting the team I'm looking forward to seeing other players get to the QB easier. Coples will do his thing and I think players like Maybin and Sapp will benefit more Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
this right here. if we were going to a 4-3 full time Id expect around 7 or 8. my guess is he gets at least 5 regardless, but will be more popular for getting constant pressure and pushing the pocket regardless of 4-3 or 3-4 usage. will be nice to not get gashed on the ground after last years uncharacteristic faltering in the run d. this is what people are forgetting. Mo and Coples are good against the run too. I think people only felt the need to gameplan for Pouha as far as assigning double teams for their OL. now we will have 3 DL who must be accounted for at all times. Even if Coples isnt outstanding Wilkersons development will give Coples 1 on 1's and vice versa.
the 3-4 is not out the window.there is going to be alot of switching out of different formations.and like i posted earlier, expect coples to play a good shate of 3 technique in some 4-3 sets with pace lined up at end
After I wrote "Out the window" I had a problem with that line myself, I know it's not going only 4-3 sets, But we will be giving Coples a lot more opportunities to be on the field. Rex seems like he's really embracing the "best 11" mentality this year and as Good as our corners are I really feel like our DL is going to be our powerhouse this year. I still feel very good about Pace - Mo & Co - Maybin being productive as hell. I've never been more excited about the prospects on our defense as I am for this season.
coples and mo are definitely 3 down players in any formation.i think its going to be alot like 2009 when we forced alot of 3 and longs then unleahed the blitz.only this time we will also have a couple of linemen who can get there too.
you hit the nail on the head.....both Coples and MoWilk will have similar numbers. Offenses will dbl team the 'hot guy', allowing the other to flourish, then switch back and forth throughout the season. They should both end the season in the high single digit realm (6-8).
I believe Coples will be on the field in every package. He can play 3-4 DE or OLB (occasionally), 4-3, nickel, dime or forty six DE or DT. He's a versatile player and will cause issues in 1-1 situations.
