Now that the each of the three contenders in the NL East have each made acquisitions, should the Mets be scared of the Braves and/or Phillies? The Braves picked up Tex, Dotel, and Ring. The Phillies picked up Lohse and Mateo. The Mets got Castillo.

How worried should the Mets be? Should they have gotten more before 4:00 today?

Personally, I think the Mets should've gotten some bullpen help, but I still think they'll take the division. They're line-up hasn't hit its stride yet, and we have Pedro and company coming back.

Considering New York offered Humber for Cordero and got turned down, I can't criticize Omar for not pulling off a move. The fact that none of these second tier relievers (other than Dotel) got moved is a sign that the sellers never lowered their prices.

On paper, with Atlanta's moves, they are at least equals to the Mets. However, they are five games in the hole without a ton of time left. I think New York holds on to the division.

It has changed in that the Braves are now better than the Phillies

Hmm. Craig Wilson, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Scot Thorman, Julio Franco. Then Mark Texiera. I'd say it's a vast upgrade. If the bats stay hot, (12,14 runs past 2 games, no Texiera yet) and the Mets don't play to their potential for a few games in a row, it could get interesting. That's not to say the Phillies won't hold their own though.

Don't forget that Mahay from the Rangers adds another badly needed LHP to the pen.

I liked it better when it had the Cubs, Pirates, and Cardinals in it.
