Like he looked at our schedule and then at this collection of assholes and thought we could win? How can I be an NFL GM
I ask this question every day.. Incoming post :You know the Jets are 10th in Pass D right... My Answer: Its a long season
LOL...That's the same answer I gave those that were citing Geno's CMP% early in the year as signs of improvement and/or accuracy.
My answer is the Raiders pumped up that ratio. We couldn't get a big stop in any of the last three weeks.
Maybe Idzik has this crazy evil genius long game going where he puts together a roster that would yield him a top 5 pick. Then he'd be in position to land his franchise QB. It's late; just throwing shit against the wall to see if it sticks, not unlike Idzik's draft strategy.
The secondary is pretty awful right now, but please let us all know what you would have done differently. You can't go get players that don't exist. But if you think of some let us know.
We had 2 offseason holes. 1) Receivers that could draw a double team and create separation. 2) CBs that could stop receivers. Idzik filled neither. And if it was Ryan that drove the Calvin Pryor pick (you can just picture Rex foaming at the mouth for the "hard hitter" just like he did for "the terminator" john conner) --- Rex should be in the sh*thole with Idzik. This offseason is looking pretty poor right now. Geno's made some mistakes, but for a 2nd year QB, he's on an offense that gives him virtually no margin for error. The last 3 losses are on those who ran our offseason.
Well not to defend idzik but he obviously couldn't predict an injured milliner and losing the 3rd round draft pick for the year.....not that milliner and/or mcdougle were the second comings BUT.... the apparent non-urgent approach to the CB position is biting the jets on the ass big time. How the hell can u put blind faith in a second year corner and a rookie to be vital cogs in a Rex Ryan defense. They took a major risk and up to now, whiffed.
That's exactly what I was thinking, Idzik won't be fired until his options are he wins with Rex or he fires Rex and brings his own guy in and that guy fails and he is fired. Woody has to know that no respectable GM will come and follow Idzik if he is fired without being given the chance to bring in his own HC. The defensive front is set up nicely and he would bring in an offensive guy and one who will stick with the 3-4.
I wish he would have signed one more player, so we didnt have to risk playing a S in an unfamiliar position. Having said that, we had Dee Milliner, who was primed to breakout. If he's healthy, who knows how good he could be. He addressed the secondary in the first and third round. In addition to that, he signed Patterson. When Patterson played last season, he made plays. How could anyone know he was going to go AWOL. The secondary is pissing me off too, but its not like Idzik didnt address it. If any area of your defense has 2 injuries and a player go AWOL, they will struggle.
Lol, yeah I somewhat agree with this. I think it's more a case of taking a longer term, strategic view of building a team vs. going all out and loading up on FA's. I think it's pointless to go after high priced FA's when it's clear you still don't have the talent to be a championship level team. I have no problem with Idzik choosing to build through the draft. My issue with Idzik is that I'm not loving the draft picks he has selected. Aside from Sheldon Richardson, it seems like a lot of misses to me. Of course, the jury is still out on guys like Milliner, Pryor and Amaro but early result are not all that encouraging.
