Anyone still doubt it? Clutch catches while taking hits - he's done it his whole career thus far. Why anyone judged him on last year while Brooks and Vinny were throwing to him is beyond me.
I've always been confused about Coles. 2002-2004 he averaged about 14.5 yards per catch. Looked every bit like a #1. Then his production just tailed off. There was the toe injury, but we haven't heard a peep about that since he got here. Maybe it was just the bad QB play? hopefully he can keep it up. He and Chad looked like they were in 2002 again.
Yep, he played very well today and made some crucial catches. People kept underrating his speed, but it's clear he still has enough wheels to get past the secondary. And, unlike other pansy WRs these days, he isn't afraid to take a hit and almost always comes down with the ball.
Hec yeah, he had that chemistry on the two long connections with Chad again, and Cotch looked like a very solid #2.
HE is a solid #1. Last year it was just bad QB throws, and lack of motivation from everyone on that offense last year. Coles has a refound urge to be succesful, now everyone does.
I expected those results today but I was really impressed by Cotchery. I'd say he's gonna be our #2 for a long time.
Everything about the passing offense was wow. Spectacular game by all the WRs, the Oline(except for on the fumble), and of course the amazing Chad Pennington
If this doesnt shut up all the " possesion reciever" shit then I dont know what else to say. There are few corners who can run with that man stride for stride in the nfl. He showed it today burning the defense twice for huge yards.
How about those receivers Hi all, just got back from the bars. Everyone of course is talking about how great Pennington is and how much Nugent sucks (I told you), but I don't see any receiver threads. These guys looked great! Coles was solid with flashes of greatness. I love Cotchery for his hands and toughness. We've finally got a solid 1-2 punch at receiver. Also, JMac had a nice play and of course Brad Smith was well-used. to our receivers!
Cotchery is the tough burly receiver the Jets have been missing since they replaced Keyshawn with Moss over a two year period in 2000-2001. And Coles definitely benefits from having a tough physical receiver opposite him.
Cotchery is like a black hole. I don't know how he came up with some of those balls where he was swarmed by defenders. Pennington has good placement of course but Cotch really goes after it with his hands, and holds on too.
Good point there was some excellent ctaches by recievers today. The recierves really helped Chad a lot today. I don't even recall any drops.
And McCareins seems like a solid #3. I was never a fan of trading him. If Smith contributes a catch or 2 per game, we've suddenly got a deep WR unit.
