First two picks make enough sense, but drafting D'Qwell Jackson? It's like taking a lesser version of Jonathan Vilma. I know the Huddle report is all computer simulated, so they're probably thinking that we're going 3-4, therefore need an ILB, so they went with the highest rated on on the board; just doesn't translate to reality.

The rest of the draft is terrific though. The only pick I don't get is Gerald Riggs, similar player to his old teammate Houston, and injury issues.

I gotta say, I think you are underrating D'Qwell. He would be a great fit for our team. Of course he would probably bump Hobson to the bench and still leave us with a hole at OLB but I wouldn't mind taking him. I think he is the #2 LB in this draft.

I love him too, Rambo ... that kid is ferocious and he can probably play inside or outside in a 34 defense

I have watched every game D'qwell Jackson has played in the past 3 years and he is a intense, fast, LB who you will never really see miss a tackle.

At first I thought that he might be two small to play in the middle alongside of Vilma, another undersized backer. However, these two would own the field, and I could easily see both get over 100 tackles.

Keep in mind that Dqwell was ACC Defensive Player of the Year over players like "Super" Mario Williams. He was Maryland's defense the past 3 years. He has played incredibly well ever since he set foot on College Park. I'd love to see him in a Jet uniform and I think that Mangini would set up the defense perfectly for 2 ballhawks such as Vilma and Jackson.

Not saying the kid isn't talented, but to have two small ILBs would be basically laying out a red carpet for teams to run it up the middle on us all day, especially with the fact that we lack a true, starting caliber nose tackle.

Why do we want Leinert? He has the possibility to be another Chad. It would be like passing the torch from one egg shell to the next, while both have subpar arms. No thanks.

Get a QB next year, Let this years draft address all are holes and needs on both sides of the ball. If the Raiders are interested in Vince Young or Matt Leinert I say we trade down but not to far down and just keep picking away and see what happens. Go Jets

Um...I'm pretty sure that the Texans aren't going to pass on Reggie Bush...

Agreed they need a DE or a hybrid OLB before Jackson. Otherwise a pretty good haul.

    I see your point GH, and as usual it's a good one ... well concieved, well thought out, and the obvious opinion of a FOOTBALL GUY {that's a huge compliment in my lexicon}

But I have to say I believe D'Qwell Jackson is this years Lofa Tatupu ... he will be a second round heist if escapes RD 1 as most are projecting ... this kid plays fast and he hits like a mutha bleeper!! :eek:hmy:

I'm not kidding man, folks say that about a lot of prospects because it sounds good, but with this kid it's an understatement ... he hits like he HATES YOU ... I mean, the type of hits that makes a crowd go "WOW"

You know that segment espn does, best hits of the week?

This kid is going to be a fixture on that segment, mark it down

But you're right, might not be the best fit for us at the moment

I see your point and I will agree with you. But I'm not going to be disappointed if it happens! :)

D'Qwell Jackson leaves us without a run stuffer, the role Hobson would play. Two coverage linebackers, as stated before, isn't a neccessarily good thing to have unless you have two monster rushbackers.

That's the way I feel, Rambo ... GH makes a good point about not being the best fit at the moment, but he's such a good FOOTBALL PLAYER that I cannot help but be excited if we draft him

A wise man once said when discussing the draft ... don't get to caught up in needs and other issues, cause if you draft enough good football players you'll find a way to use them and be a better team for it

More than anything else, and this is important for all of us to remember, the draft is about drafting good football players ... as many as possible ... that's always the primary objective ... not the only objective, but the primary objective

Mangini is great at utilizing players talents. Look what he did with that defense the past two years.

Let this defense acquire talent, and Mangini will figure out how to maximize their skills.

In Dqwell and Vilma we would have 2 LB's who are sure tacklers, and possess the instincts and quickness to go from sideline to sideline and also drop back in coverage.

Dqwell has had at least 3 INT's a year the past two years.
