The #29 overall for Abraham was not enough. All the homers like Brandon Tierney, Mike Greenberg etc who, as always, boasted of holding out for the #15, showed what suckers all Jet fans really are and how we never get what we need for players, coaches, etc. The Jets always, always get hosed and once again didn't get value for a premier pass rusher another team was willing to pay a huge contract to. I don't think the Falcons got enough value either in giving up the #15 pick for the #29 pick but at least they got the player they wanted. Jet fans in the media are even dopier than the rest of us as they continue to sell the idea that this organization has turned the corner and is gaining a clue. Not happening, folks and if they trade the #4 and #29 for Leinart after making investments in both Ramsey and Penny they're more clueless than ever.
i think it was good it could have been better but Abe was always getting injured and didnt want to play in NY i am glad he is gone
Not that this wasn't already posted before, but come on man... He did not want to play here. He was offered a long term deal, but turned it down. He is 1 strike away from a suspension.. He has a history of injuries. He is gone..... If the Jets kept him this year, he would have been a FA next year, and we would have got NOTHING!!!
I love how everyone calls Jabe a "premiere" pass rusher. He was NEVER a "premiere" pass rusher. He might have been the best on the Jets, but that means next to nothing. Add to the fact that Atlanta wanted additional picks and we weren't giving them away, it seemed to be the best deal for a player that didn't even want to stay here. You don't put Jabe in the same sentence as LT.....Lewis...Gastenau.....Hell, he's only slightly better than Hugh.
I don't think you understand the situation, not only do we need to agree upon a deal, but Abraham, with the tag, controls the deal financially. The texans could offer us a #1, but if john doesnt want to go there, no dice. He wanted Atlanta, and Atlanta only. They knew this and were trying to bone us. We got a first rounder out of a situation that was not easy to complete. This isn't a fantasy league. It's very complicated to work a deal. And i'm, happy we got a first.
We got JAbe 6 years ago...we now got a first rounder for an injury prone player. Trust me, as soon as he injures his groin again, Falcon fans will say they got hosed.
Injury prone? We gave more money to Pennigton who is more injury prone and whose injuries are worse, so what do you mean injury prone? At least he peforms, when he is on the field, not like our QB. oNE STRIKE AWAY? HE HAS BEEN ONE STRIKE AWAY AND STILL PLAYED A FULL SEASON.wE TRADED him for nothing. The number 29 pick is useless unless we manage to get leinhart because i think Both Penny and Ramsey are only here for a year
That was under Herm and Bradway.. New FO, New Attitude... And based on the cap, there is no way we could afford to dump Penny and Ramsey next year...
i agree with you that penny is way more injury prone than abe but to say the 29 pick is useless is just totally inaccurate...its a first round pick...if we screw it up then its useless but in and of itself how can you say the 29 pick is useless???thats just being unknowledgeable
Typical IRA reaction. Let's take what this awful front office gives us and spin crap into gold every time they make one of their insipid moves. For the clown who said that Abe isn't a premiere pass rusher, I'll take the opinion of Rich McKay (Falcons) and Tim Ruskell (Seahawks) over the brain dead fans in here any time and twice on Thursday. Sorry if you "fans" can't handle the truth. Most of you don't even have a bar to raise b/c your standards are so low.
Another brilliant post. I love how people say the 29th pick is uselss. Never mind it is a first round pick, but the great majority of the best players in the NFL were NOT picked in the first round. Take a look at the stars on every team and in the league as a whole, and tell me how many are first rounders. Go ahead look. Brilliant analysis there. And for the record, the Jets offered Ellis' contract to Abe first. When he turned it down, Ellis signed it. At the time it was offered, Abe was coming off one of his injuries AND was dealing with his off the field problems. He turned it down THEN because he wanted top 5 DE money. He was greedy. Funny how people choose to forget this little fact.
Your argument is that Abe is not injury prone because Chad is even more? Come on! By the way: If anyone gave up a first rounder for Chad he would be long gone!
No, this a typical post from you. Postless and bitching. I have NEVER read a positive post from you. On ANY subject dealing with the Jets, old regime, new regime, trade, FA, it doesn't matter. There are pessimistic fans that I respect here, but you just troll. If you are a "fan" I'm Condeleezza Rice. Oh yes, take the word of someone else instead of making up your own mind. If Abe is a premiere rusher, then he would have been worth the 15th round pick outright from ATL. But they refused to give it. Abe was greedy and his time here was a soap opera, goodbye and goodluck, don't let the door hit ya on the way out. And what the hell are you talking about? I said nothing about the FO, or whether I agreed with them or not. I was talking about your inane post. It is the same from you over and over and over again. And you didn't answer my question. Why was a new thread necessary? There are about 5 other threads on this very topic. What you just wanted to see your name on the forum page? Or just wanted to do someting trolling today?
This statement makes no sense.....If your standards are low, how can you not raise them higher???? But I digress...
