From PFT: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...primary-objective-on-long-redskins-wish-list/ Also says they're going to make a push for both Jenkins brothers. The Skins getting involved in the bidding for Holmes would suck. Every year they majorly overpay players, and the Jets may not be in a position to match if Snyder does something crazy for Holmes.
If he wants to go to DC and lose let him, we'll keep Braylon. If he wants to win and still get paid well he'll stay here.
If we end up losing Holmes and keeping Braylon, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tanny make a move for a guy like Steve Smith from Carolina to replace him.
I'd much rather Braylon anyway. With that said, I hope Holmes realizes that the Redskins are expected to use John Beck as their starting quarterback with little to no talent surrounding him. It would be a long 4-6 years for Holmes if he signs there.
Anything said right now is purely speculation.Odds are the Skins will have interest in all the prime free agents b/c they ALWAYS do...and let's face it, their roster is below average at best. With that said, Washington won't be able to do any of this until they figure out what to do with Albert Haynesworth. That guy's contract is absolutely huge and is a cap killer. He clearly doesn't want to play for the skins, but does not appear willing to restructure or take a pay cut to make a manageable trade w/ another team. Skins won't be able to do much of anything till they figure out what to do w/ ole Albert. Put me down for Holmes over Edwards. Younger, more consistent and much more dynamic.
I'd love to see Smith if we can't keep Holmes. I don't know how the numbers would work out though. Tannenbaum will figure it out. He's got this.
I love the confidence in Mike T. I agree, I'm sure that whatever happens, Tanny will put us in a good position. I'm also sure that the Redskins can probably offer Santonio more cash than the Jets can. I believe that Holmes is looking for the biggest paycheck right now (and there's nothing wrong with that). The guy already has a Superbowl, Superbowl MVP, and has built a reputation and is now in a position to cash in on all that and get paid the big bucks. If Santonio leaves, I'm sure that we will probably resign Braylon, which I'm very happy about.
How do the Redskins stay under the cap? Does Goodell let them fudge the numbers because he feels sorry for them?
The Redskins are such a joke. The Shannahans have turned that franchise into even more of a circus. Have fun, Santonio.
I really hope they don't get into the bidding with any of our players. Actually, I guess I'd sacrifice Brad Smith to them if needed...
If Holmes wants to go to DC for the money, he is not the type of player the Jets want anyway. I think Holmes stays though. Everyone talks about how everyone wants to play for Rex, I can't see how a player would jump that ship to go to one of the worst places to play in the NFL the last 10+ years.
Holmes will get a great contract from us, if Snyder gives him an over the top contract, and he takes it, then enjoy your stay in mediocrity and boy are you gonna miss Sanchez, Woody and Rex. Nothing we can do, we have to many good players and to smart of a GM, to blow it all on a WR. That's the Skins style, we are not going there
But the fact that Holmes already has his ring diminishes the chance that he'd turn down boatloads of money for a "chance to win". Hell, I know if I already had a ring and I knew Snyder's history, I'd take him for all he's worth
