According to ESPN New York, the Jets "aren't overly optimistic" about Santonio Holmes (hamstring) returning in Week 9.

The Jets really miss Holmes, and will even more so against the high-flying Saints this week. They're going to need to generate yardage and points. In Sunday's loss to Cincinnati, the Bengals neutralized Jeremy Kerley, and Stephen Hill was a non-factor. The passing game certainly is not the reason the Jets are 4-4. They need to get back to hammering opponents in the run game.

Not worth his salary anymore and because I think Idzik will make this priority #1, I'd say Holmes is a goner.

That's to bad, missing his 1 to 3 catches a game, he's a game changer.

Sitting on his ass and smoking a fat blunt while collecting big money. Don't be a hater, we all would do the same thing given the chance.

Seriously, can't wait til we cut him.

You guys are really hard on Holmes. The guy obviously is saving himself for the 2nd season (after the bye week). He'll get back on the field before the end of the season. He's just not in a real big rush to do it.

Holmes will definitely be cut after this season, unless he was willing to take a vet's minimum paycut.

The Jets create about $9m in cap space in 2014 if they cut Holmes.

Holmes is the one player I want gone next year. We need an much bigger upgrade over Holmes.

Pains me to talk bad about a Buckeye, but come on mayne. If your not gonna play, your not gonna stay!

Not sure why this is news. Every week, they make a big deal out of him not playing like there was even a minuscule chance of it happening.

Hopefully he's ready to go and can give us 7 games after the bye. He's a dynamic player and can really help the offense out.

Maybe Holmes will give us 7 games after the bye. Equally possible that he'll grow wings and be able to hover 5 yards over the field and fly in TD passes. Of course, after 2 games he'd pull a wingstring and sit out the rest of the season.

Jeebus. Do we really need a weekly bitch about Holmes thread? He'll be back when he's healthy. Ease up on that hate. Some of ya'll seriously act like Holmes kidnapped your first born. Let it go. Breathe. Relax. He's not faking it, he wants to win. It's just unfortunate this happened because we really need him.

What a bum. It's like he shattered his foot completely and still made sure he was able to get in the start of the season. Not a trooper at all.

I used to love Holmes but now this is getting out of hand.

I wouldn't mind at all if Idzik cut this douche.

Just in time to throw the QB under the bus and cause huddle and locker room issues.

maybe some team is desperate for a guy to play the second half of the season...Indy needs someone to replace Wayne. Maybe get a late round pick for him.
