Looks like it's not just fans who aren't happy with Shotty and his inability to adjust. Holmes had some things to say after the game: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...ust?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
"they were tough enough" fuck that, the DL was tough enough. Their secondary isn't good, and Sanchez couldn't take advantage because the OL would never give him time.
This is who Holmes is, so let's not attack him because he took thinly veiled shots at a coordinator that isn't liked on this board. This has been Schotty's issue forever, that he can't adjust on the fly and fix it during a drive. He has to draw shit up and implement it later. Holmes gets pissed after a loss. This is what he does. What he said isn't wrong considering the 3rd quarter happened the way it did.
I understand but come on man... I'd rather keep it quiet learn to adjust. And not have to Adjust to new OC's in the middle of the season....
He took shots at Shittenheimer after the Steelers game last year too.. can't really blame this guy. He's used to winning and doing well. When he sees something that is holding the team back from winning, he's going to come out and say it. I'm glad he didn't flat out blame Shotty or anyone specifically, but someone has to speak up and let it be known this crap can't go on like this. How can a coordinator be so clueless out there and take so long to adapt to things? Week 1 it was like he had no idea the Cowboys might be blitzing. Today it was like he never game planned to face a zone defense before.
Holmes isn't going to get Schotty fired. Schotty is going to get Schotty fired I really don't think he gets a contract extension next season. What breaks my heart is that Rex wanted Hue Jackson as his OC. We saw first hand why this afternoon.
Don't forget last week that the Jags played cover 2 over the top and Schotty had a problem with that as well. He's gotten out smarted every game. That's pathetic. At least the Jags just weren't good enough to run with this team.
I remember during the game, it was third and long and I said "It's gonna be a screen pass". And lo and behold, it was a screen pass. If I can call the plays before the ball is snapped, you know the Jets have to throw more things out there from the playbook.
You're right. Last week was such a blowout, it's hard to nitpick, but the offensive game plan was clearly crap, not to mention the way some of these plays are drawn up. He seems to be a big fan of putting 3 or 4 receivers all within 5 yards of each other so 1 or 2 defenders can cover everyone and probably intercept the pass. It's quite an interesting strategy. Phil Simms tried to be nice about it during the telecast saying "The Jets are guessing wrong every time".. but that's really just another way of saying "The OC is getting badly outcoached"
I called the lob pass to Plaxico one play before it happened, because the Jets fucking ran the ball the play before and wasted 30 seconds instead of fucking using Plax one on one.
I'd much prefer him question the lack of adjustments vs him saying something about the fact that he didn't get enough looks.
I guess the question becomes do you go through QB's until you find the right guy for your franchise offensive coordinator or do you change coordinators until you find the right match for your franchise quarterback? The sad thing is that not making a choice doesn't solve the problem, it only extends it until it becomes a huge issue that hangs over the team.
Like I said, how predictable is Schotty's offense? Predictable enough that I know everytime what play they are calling when I watch the game on TV.
Holmes is always going to be honest. The organization knows this. I might be in the minority, but I appreciate he doesn't BS, he just owns it, and that's that. I'm also happy for a few things. 1. He was honest, but he didn't take a direct shot at anyone. Praise be. 2. He was honest, but it wasn't about his personal catches, it was about the fact that Mark was on his back so much, his nose almost got busted... Tone is telling no lies... These first three games, the o-line has looked a hot mess. That is no joke. It needs to get rectified. 3. He was honest, but it was about the fact that the offense does need to adjust better. It's just truth. If the offensive players bury their heads in the sand and play like that issue doesn't exist, they're never going to get better. And honestly, I'm tired of hearing... The offense did great, it wasn't their fault, blah, blah, blah... When the offense looks lethargic and out of sync... and often. Even in a game like today, where maybe the offense did enough to win, maybe... They didn't get it done as a team, and the offense left TONS of points on the floor and had issues, so...
Yeah, I'm glad he didn't come off like a selfish asshole.. he made a point to say it has nothing to do with his targets and he understands sometimes the looks won't be there. Last week it was Plax, this week it's him. But you really can't blame the guy for being frustrated and pissed off, being out there KNOWING that what you are doing is the wrong thing and won't work, but you are just doing what you are told.
It's baffling to me that Shotty has brainwashed the organization into thinking he's this coaching prodigy who has to be kept at all costs. When Rex was hired they pretty much told him, Shotty is staying. He has them all tricked. Either that or he has some serious dirt on Woody Johnson.
