http://virginiatech.rivals.com/default.asp?SR=RivalsFP I'm sorry but I am ecstatic about this, even if it was a foregone conclusion. 5 Star QB Tyrod Taylor, who has been rated as high as the #2 QB in this coming years senior class is making his way to Blacksburg. He will fit right in with the other Hampton Roads area athletic QBs who thrive in our offense. Plus the kid can pass, and he is a better prospect than Marcus Vick ever was. It is going to be tough rooting for the sap that gets to start this year, knowing Taylor is coming for his job.
Awesome. Hokies and Buckeyes are my college football teams, and I wanted to see Whitaker play, but if this guy is as advertised...
Well Taylor won't be there until next year so you could conceivably see Whitacker play although I think Glennon is going to take over.
This is a phenomenal pickup for Virginia Tech, not like there's really anything resembling surprise that it happened. If Taylor can at least get it back to the point where people have to be a little bit concerned about the Hokie offense, it'll be a huge step up for the team. Big time also for establishing a face for the program once those present defensive studs are gone. And if I were Beamer, I'd tell Taylor every single day, "Don't try to be Mike Vick, that'll never work. Just be Bryan Randall, and we're golden."
Right on buddy. It does kinda suck that almost all of our great players will be gone by then, I gotta hope this year's freshman class is as good as it looks on paper, for Tyrod's sake.
When will Ike Whitaker see the field for Vtech, and how early is the Hokie nation predicting that Tyrod will be under center?
Um. let's see. I personally think that Sean Glennon will start most of this year. Ike hasn't done anything besides get in trouble while at VT. (score 1-0 in favor of trouble). I think Glennon gets the nod, not by much, but enough to be a caretaker QB and let the Defense control the game and pray to god the Running Game shows up for this season like it has in the past. I would personally be surprised to see Whitaker start a game unless it is because of injury. As far as Taylor goes, this upcoming season will be his final one in HS and Tech has a habit of redshirting QBs their first year, which I can't necessarily argue with because it lets them come in much more prepared as a redshirt freshman. Then again, that depends on how the QBs this year do. If they suck then I think Taylor splits time right away. If they are serviceable I say he redshirts his first year and takes the first snap in two years (2008).
