Also Marques Colston, Lance Schulters, Dave Fiore to name a few who have or had nice NFL runs from Hofstra. It's too bad as they have been a very respectable 1AA program for a long time.

Wow, very surprising. It'll be interesting to see what they do with their stadium besides hosting soccer and lacrosse games along with the L I Marching Band Championship. Perhaps the NY team from that new league will find a more permanent home.

Man that sucks. Was there really no interest in Hofstra football? They drew well in the 90's

Sad day for those that couldn't make it to the big NCAA schools but still had the talent to make it to the NFL. Not that it matters but it obviously would never have happenned if the Jets still had a practice facility there and were paying all the bills.

No Pride today. Its interesting that Monday is the NYC alumni holiday party. Lot of football players are big in the Alumni Association.
Dr. Rabinowitz always comes to the party. It will be interesting to see if he shows because there will be quite a few upset alumni there.

bunch of guidos at that school who were more interested in pumping their fists at a nightclub then going to a football game.

That is so sad. My first football game I went to was at Hofstra :(
At least Hofstra Basketball is doing strong. I might go there Wednesday. My school (Manhattan College is playing them) and my big sis a Hofstra alum lives near there.

I applied, and got in, to Hofstra. I thought about going there, but settled for a southern school on account of football. Good decision I suppose.

    RIP Hofstra Football

Hofstra Basketball definitely put us on the edge a few weeks ago.

When I think Hofstra, I think of Football not Basketball. If its really for academic improvement, no one can really blame them. I heard they want to use the money for a med school. Its tough to continue to run a program that is losing so much money. Its always tough for a private schools to build a strong football program... There can only be so many USC, ND, BC, Wake Forest's... even Syracuse's.

what a crock, RIP to the program...I hate seeing smaller programs go away because they give kids a chance to succeed when bigger schools decide to pass on them. The lessons learned in those locker rooms are no less important than any other

I started out at Hofstra my freshman year back in 1999. I went to the homecoming game, and it was pretty lame. It's mostly a commuter school - no one cared about the football team.

I almost went to Hofstra but turned it down because I heard it sucks there. Guess this would just add onto the list
