What a history. Sam throwing for a mere 3300 yards this season, 20 TDs, and 270 completions, all very realistic stats, puts him in the top 10 all time in yards passing, TDs, and completions in team history. Crazy
What a misleading headline!!! History of jets QB's and well I thought we had more in the past than you have mentioned in all honesty, I am trying not to be picky but you know it seems like half a post lol
Some statisticians seem to disagree. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/single-season-passing.htm Passing yard of 3300 will tie him squarely at #14 with Kenny O. [Not quite top 10] 20 TDs ties him at #12 with Joe Namath 270 completions will put him alone at #15 ahead of McClown. P.S. That these rather pedestrian numbers are even in comparison with the old time football means Jets offense in recent time has been truly offensive. The best overall performance still belongs to the magical year of Chad Pennington. What a crying shame. [275/399, 68.9%, 3120 YD, 22 TD/ 6 INT, 1x 4th quarter comeback game, 2x game winning drive at 104.2 QBR]
If you're going to invent stats for a season not yet played, why not make them worthy of NFL Player of the Year? Sorry to rain on your future parade, but before we compare Darnold to anyone, he needs to actually produce the stats you're using. I hope he has at least as good a season as you suggest, but he has to go out there, stay healthy, and improve, none of that is guaranteed. Let's pump the brakes a bit.
What are you talking about? In 12 games in his rookie year he put up.... 2865 yards, 17 TDs, and completed 239 passes. You are making it seem like I am giving him some unrealistic All Pro stats. Calm down dude.....
Yup Chad had the best season in a while. The stats I pointed out were cumulative all time, not single season FYI......combined with Year 1 stats puts him top 10 in those categories
What a history, I feel like I just ate a bowl of a bag drugs. Maybe I should wash it all down with some Night Train.
The crazy thing is that Namath still holds the record for most yds. in a season. A 14 game season. He could really toss that rock...
It's not that your prediction is farfetched, it's that it's a prediction. Who knows what will happen? You're saying "IF Sam does this, then he will be comparable to these actual stats". You know the old saying" "If a frog had a glass ass he'd only jump once". I think you're the one who needs to calm down a bit. Wait until he delivers.
It's a message board. lol. Isn't speculation, projection, and prediction basically half the reason these exist?
It pains me that Fitzpatrick holds the td record. I demand Sam claim that record this year or at worse 2020.
1998 Vinnie T. He was 12 and 1 in 13 starts with 29TD's. I have seen every year of Jets football going back to 65. That was the best QB performance we ever got. The guy was a monster in 98.
I'd always take Joe Willie, but Vinnie had an unbelievable season. I can still hear the "Vinnie & The Jets" riff.
