Here's the link: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/42524/stephen-hill-blames-ny-media-for-ouster Taken from today's NYDN: Well there you have it. It was that sinister NY Media that caused all those drops. It was the NY Media that prevented him from running good routes and gaining seperation. It was that sinister NY Media that derailed Stephen Hill's career here in NY. Damn Rich Cimini to the darkest hell!! And all this time I was under the impression that you had to actually produce and contribute in order to keep your job. Silly me. I guess blaming the media is the new panacea for defeat, non production and lack of results. Lets not ever look at root causes anymore. It's so much easier to blame something or someone else these days. So next time a Jet blows a coverage or runs the wrong route or even drops a catchable pass, lets roll out our favorite whipping boys. 1: The Refs 2: The Media 3: The Other Team I'm sure I've missed a few but you all get the point. I hope...
I heard this on the radio at work yesterday, what a joke.I still felt like we should have kept him on the roster for atleast this season.Rex said it was more of a special teams decision ,and thaat Stephens competiton at WR contributed more on special teams.
so now we know that not only does hill suck at football but he's delusional. Didn't know he signed on the Panthers practice squad. lolz
I'd love to pile onto the See Ya Hill bandwagon, but this quote makes zero sense without context. There's no way that he blamed the NY media for his drops.
Reminds me of Gholston talking smack about Rex not using him properly or the Jets being at fault when he was trying out with the Bears.
Sad, just sad. 20 years ago a player wouldn't even be able to comment to the media about a former team and talk about excuses for why he was cut. Let alone a marginal player who is far from a household name. It's just goes to show you how much the media controls things these days. The only thing Hill should be blaming is his hands.
...but isn't that the same excuse "the media doesn't like us" Jet fans here use all the time? I hope now they understand how stupid it sounds. Hill's downfall was, he couldn't catch. If not for his draft status and our roster situation, he would have been cut last season.
Out of context is out of context. He was being asked about his reputation for drops,.. not for the reason he was cut in NY. He was cut because he lost out in competition for his spot. If any of you disagree that the NY Media has a propensity to blow things out of proportion ( including this story ) you've been living under a rock. Wish him the best of luck... Lets move on the to Raiders, and the players that are actually still on our squad.
Ooooooooooo, he makes me so mad picking on the NY media like that. Oooooooooooooo. Hill sucks and so does the NY media. Moving on ....
Screw Hill, that dropped pass in New England was so catastrophic toward the Jets, and Mark Sanchez. The Patriots were finally at the breaking point, I am telling you, if we had beat them that game, we would have had a real shot at winning the whole division. They were cracking internally, instead the Jets lost there confidence, the Patriots dodged a bullet and never really looked back.
He needs to shut the fuck up with his excuses. Either don't say anything or blame yourself. He wants to get another job elsewhere, I'm sure, and this isn't helping.
You care far to much about what the media manipulates you to care about. This is really a non-story that Butt-hurt NY beat writers are blasting on. He wasn't asked why he was cut. He was asked about how he was going to try and shake his reputation for drops.
http://thejetsblog.com/nyjets/stephen-hill-blames-new-york-media-for-reputation-of-drops/ Is an accurate, non-biased report of the situation. Unsurprisingly not from NYDN or ESPN.
