With the dumb ass poston's as his agent, we could have gotten a bargin. They jacked the hell out of him since day one. Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports an agent with knowledge of New York Giants LB LaVar Arrington's contract said the contract from Arrington's point of view is terrible. His $5.25 signing bonus is virtually inconsequential when pro-rated over seven-years and the roster bonuses over the first two years are based on playing time.
1. Arrington had no desire to come here (wanted to stay in NFC East and get payback against the Skins twice a year). 2. Not Mangini type of player (team first, attitude, etc.). Arrington was out there for quite a while - If Mangini had any interest, they would have contacted him (and probably would have been turned down).
We should have got Shaun Alexander, LeCharles Bentley, Steve Hutchinson, Drew Brees, Terrell Owens, Ty Law, Reggie Wayne, Julian Peterson, Adam Vinatieri and Cato June too.
i think his point was that Arrington - despite this board's contrary consensus before he signed - was pretty cheap. all the guys you just listed weren't. cheers
It's a moot point, he's s giant and yes they got him cheap but the only way he was going to be a jet is if he got the contract he originally wanted. He knew that the well was running dry and if he wanted to play against the skins his best chance was with the giants. The eagles weren't going after him and dallas was out of the question.
From what he has been quoted on already, and the type of players they have signed already. I think from what Mangini has said and done so far that you can make an educated guess as to what type of player would fit his system. Honestly, do you see Arrington as a "team first" type of player - a characteristic Mangini has said he is looking for?
