Roto World http://www.rotoworld.com/content/Home_NFL.aspx just another option for the Jets to trade down now if the worst case scenario : Gholsten, Long are off the board at 6. Instead of moving all the way back in the 1st round, maybe the Jets can work something out with the Lions who sit mid round? thoughts... btw, this is purely speculation, so no one blow their wad over this...yet.
I'd be cool with Roy Williams and a 1st, the 3rd would be nice but definately Roy and a 1st is a must.
Lions | Team releases K. Jones Thu, 13 Mar 2008 13:50:34 -0700 The Detroit Lions announced Thursday, March 13, that the team released RB Kevin Jones.
That trade would be so awesome... completely unrealistic, because the Jets never get nice trades like that. With our luck we'd get their 2nd, 5th, and Mike Furrey. Victory...
Furrey is a good #3, but he just signed a nice contract that I wouldn't want to have to pay for. Williams and a 1st and a 3rd sounds about right though. Remember Randy was only worth a 4th. Our spot is worth 1600 on the draft value chart. Theirs is worth 1050. That leaves us 550. If we put Williams at the middle to late 2nd round (more than fair), he'd be worth 300-350. That leaves with us with 200-250. Detroit's 3rd rounder is worth 190. Sounds fair to me.
What about when we swapped 2nd rounders with the Bears for Thomas Jones? Most of the trade down scenarios have involved the Cowboys and their two first round picks. I would want two first round quality players to trade out of the six spot- a WR and either a CB or pass rusher. If the Lions were willing to give Roy Williams and their first rounder for our pick, we could draft our defensive player and come away with "the best WR in the draft." I'd take that in a heartbeat. I might not even be upset if the Jets threw in Dewayne Robertson. (Lions need help at DT, right?)
I'm sorry, which second round WR do you feel is better than Roy Williams? He's one of the top ten wide receivers in the NFL.
It doesn't work that way genius. Look at the going rate for a quality (pro-bowl) VETERAN: Jenkins=3+5 Moss=4 Vilma=4+(2 or 3) Rogers=3+5
Actually, I think I read that Vilma goes for a 2 or a 3 if he starts the entire season and meets some qualifications (including signing an extension), but in that case New Orleans gets our 2009 4th rounder. Pray for a healthy Jonathan Vilma.
Okay, pal. Nobody, but NOBODY calls me a genius and gets away with it. Jenkins didn't make the pro bowl last year. Had an off year. Moss didn't make the pro bowl two years ago. Had a crappy year. Vilma was put on injured reserve. Sean Rogers sucks. Don't tell me how many "points" a player translates into, you Maddenite. Those draft value charts were invented by Mel Kiper so he could sell you the idea that his job is necessary.
He'd rotate with and hopefully, eventually replace Bryan Thomas. Mangini has gone on record saying the Jets are looking very carefully at him.
I will nitpick-- it was invented by Jimme Johnson and someone else. Kiper has just used that to become what he is today.
He doesn't look like a 3-4 OLB to me but what do I now? He seems like another player ideally suited for the 4-3 with no position in the 3-4, like Dorsey and to a lesser extent Ellis and Gholston.
Insults aside, the point system has nothing to do with Madden. That draft value chart was invented by Jimmy Johnson during his tenure with the late Dallas Dynasty and is used by the majority of GMs to determine relative value. The last veteran traded for a 1st round pick that I can think of was Abe. Williams also had an off year for him (trust me, I had him on my fantasy team), so by your logic, he's only worth a 4th. Can you name the last veteran traded for a 1st since Abe? I'm just saying that Roy Williams going rate in today's NFL is probably somewhere in the 2nd round. You can't equate his talent with the potential of the draft pick...it doesn't work that way. Ur right...I remember seeing that too...would like to know exactly what the incentives are though.
