Saw an advanced screening of The Pilot and I think it has a chance to be the next big show on HBO. Takes place in 1971 NYC. The pilot was about prostitution but eventually it will get into the porn industry it looks like. Premieres tomorrow on HBO. If anyone watches, tell me what you think.
First episode was okay; felt a little consumed with dramatically introducing all the key players, but lost having them get involved in anything interesting in the process. That being said I'll give it a few episodes to see where it's going.
So sad that I came to talk poop also... lmmfao! So, Should I merge this with the Trump thread? or Nah?
I don't think anyone is watching but me, but it has been a really good show for the first 3 episodes. I like most of the characters. It is well made. HBO has a really solid Sunday line-up starting this Sunday: The Deuce, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Vice Principals. I like all 3.
Are any of you old enough to remember the old "Deuce" before Guliani? I don't think there was a more adventurous place in all of NYC. You had to be street smart or the Deuce would have devoured you. From the Port Authority to Time Square, 41st to 48th on B'way. That was the old Deuce.. Nothing at all like today's sanitized edition..#fond_memories
When I tell people how much more I liked the old 42nd St they look at me like I have an eye in the middle of my forehead. It had character, now it's antiseptic Disney crap.
It's okay. I'd be lying if I didn't say the nudity is the thing that keeps me watching hoping it gets better.
There is a lot of that. I think James Franco talking to himself each week is hilarious. It's a serious show, yet they always have at least one scene of him talking to himself and for some reason it cracks me up.
Done with this show. Not one single interesting thing has happened in it and the characters aren't interesting.
Best part about the show is the sets. Its amazing how they make it look like Times Square of the 80s. It has thst old dirty look everywhere.
Decided to keep watching and it is finally getting someplace interesting. 5 set up episodes to get to this point was just too much.
Remember The Wire? The first 6 episodes of that series were so boring, and then it picked up...Same creator who likes to build character and establish a setting first.
I know of it but never watched it. I went a long time without watching TV series. Just didn’t have the time or desire to be consumed by having to keep up with them.
It was a pretty good 1st season. Wasn't as great as I expected from the premiere, but I still enjoyed it.
