Reggie Hodges had more tackles today. I'd love to see his name on the box-score somewhere, but he's MIA. Merriman and Ware showed a ton more during their rookie seasons than Gholston. Is it safe to say this is basically a redshirt year for Gholston?
Newsflash: One of the bright spots of the Jets this is year is our Outside Linebackers. Gholston need not play right now!!!
he definitely belongs on a carton. i admit i got caught in the hype of gholston pre draft and figured he was a slam dunk all rookie coming in IF the jets used him as a pass rusher and nothing else for now. well they decide to make him a "complete" OLB in his 1st year so a guy with 17 or so college games under his belt is supposed to make an impact.. if i am the owner i could live with my 20+ guaranteed dollars getting 8-10 sacks his first year. i cannot live with my #6 pick playing ST all year. way too early for the bust ticket but you CANNOT be happy with him at this point jil
Exactly what ive been preaching. Why force him in right now when he can watch two very good players at OLB and learn from them.
The last two games would have been great opportunities to get him some playing time, but since the CS can't gameplan to win by 3 scores against shitty teams, he can't see the field.
He's learning to play in the NFL. This year is going to be a wash for him. He needs to lose some weight and become more fluid.
The Ghost Yup...I was referring to Vernon Gholston. Has this kid been the most invisible 1st rd pick in the history of the league? The kid has 6 tackles this whole season! I think there are punters out there with more tackles than him! Not sure what the deal is with him, but he is playing for an inept DC and head coach, so who knows, maybe once those idiots are gone, he might become of something...
not in these past few games i must say. Last two games, absolutely no pressure on the qb. If they aint doing anything might as well put gholston in and see what his freakish physical ability can do for the team.
so does everyone have to make the same thread on him every week???? Bryan Thomas and Pace have been terrific.. Who do you want to take out to play him????
That's not my job to figure that shit out, but when you pay a player that kind of guaranteed money, someone in that disaster of a coaching staff should be. But then again, with the idiots running this team I should expect nothing less than for us to draft a kid in the 1st rd that has no place to play on the team...
He can't see the field if these games are this close. Keep the starters in who won't make rookie mistakes. Oakland and KC should have been games where he gained playing time, but the Jets were too busy playing from behind to put backups in.... fucking embarrassing.
The funny thing is...if the CS puts the guy in, and he makes a crucial mistake...everyone screams "Why have a rookie like Gholston in the game when we have 2 solid experienced starters who won't make rookie mistakes?! Fire Mangini!" There's just no winning w/ some of this fan base.
The fan base is never happy with anything. Run too much and they get on you for not passing enough. Pass too much and they get on you for not running enough. The bottom line is that if Favre doesn't throw 5 picks the last two weeks the Jets are easily at 5-2.
