I just listened to Mangini's press conference for this morning and he said David Harris has a "longer shot" of playing this week than he did last week. He wouldn't say it is a long term injury or anything but it sounds like Bowens will be starting at inside LB again this week against St Louis.
This is scary. Jets coach Eric Mangini indicated Wednesday that ILB David Harris has suffered a setback in his recovery from a pulled groin and is out indefinitely. Mangini called Harris a "longer shot" to play Sunday than he was last week, when Harris was listed as doubtful. Mangini wouldn't say whether Harris will need surgery, but he can be dropped in shallow IDP leagues. David Bowens, who can bring some pressure up the middle, is starting in his place. Its okay. The Jets don't need him for the Rams game. It would have been nice though. Hopefully he returns by Tennessee or the week after.
possible surgery sounds bad. hopefully he can get back on the field soon. we are going to get killed by the screen passes against new england if he isn't back.
The linebacker crew has been ripped to shreds in pass coverage. Barton and Bowens are major liabilities when asked to cover up the seams or crossing routes over the middle. I hope Harris makes it back in a hurry.
Injuries are a part of the game so I would be very happy to see Harris come back in 4 weeks. We will need him to be a serious contender.
It's sounding like it's going to be a while to me. 4 weeks would be nice, I'm thinking more like the end of the season or so.
i have a feeling he will be put on IR...... i think some of those promising pre-season linebackers may get a look here. jil
Such as? I haven't been following up with preseason this year. It'd be pretty cool to see Marques Murrell get some playing time simply because of who his brother was, but does anyone know if he's actually any good? Anyway, I'm hoping this'll be a blessing in disguise if it somehow means more opportunities for Gholston. Dunno where'd he start or which other LB would get shifted though, since I doubt he'd be playing inside.
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2008/11/lb-harris-out-at-least-2-to-3.html He will be OUT 2-3 Weeks. That is reasonable. Get him back for the stretch run.
I read Mike Peterson was getting released by the Jags. If theres any risk that Harris' injury may keep him out longer we should look into Peterson for a rental. Hurts that he will miss the NE and Tenesee game.
