    Report: David Harris will play

Cedric Benson better study his tape this week: Jets linebacker David Harris is playing.

Harris, the NFL's ninth-leading tackler this season, has been uncertain to play after suffering an ankle sprain Sunday. But David Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger reports it was only a "mild" sprain and Harris will suit up.

While we'd call Calvin Pace New York's most important linebacker, Harris is not far behind. The team credits him with 142 tackles, 5.5 sacks and an interception. The NFL, always stingier listing tackles, has him with 127 tackles, good for ninth in the league.

Rex Ryan has tried to keep Harris' status a secret, but the inside linebacker will be out there. Maybe he can introduce himself to Benson Saturday afternoon.

NY Jets LB David Harris will play against Cincinnati

Jets linebacker David Harris has a ??mild?? right ankle sprain and will play on Saturday against the Bengals in their wild-card rematch, according to two people with knowledge of the injury who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they?re not authorized to speak publicly.

Harris, who was injured in the Jets? 37-0 win over the Bengals on Sunday, didn?t practice Tuesday.

??It?s just a mild sprain,?? said one person. ??He?s going to go. He?ll be out there on Saturday.??

Harris, who is a key clog in the Jets run defense, has a team-high 142 tackles, 5 1/2 sacks and an interception this season.

In a bit of gamesmanship, coach Rex Ryan has been coy about Harris? status.

?I?m not sure (if he?ll practice on Wednesday),?? said Ryan. ??I think we?ll move slowly on it. He?s a guy that this is a familiar opponent. We?ll give him as much time as he needs.??

SORRY MODS PLEASE MERGE WITH OTHER HARRIS THREAD
