So I'll throw one out for your team What about Harrington? He is not expendable, was highly rated coming out of college, and you can wait for the release so you dont give anything up to get him. He has a lot of upside. He has played for an underachieving team, but is a gamer in my opinion. Good arm, good skills. But he does like to throw the pick. Over all, though, I think he is a better fit for you than Ramsey, and will be cheaper.
I like Harrington. He is no worse than Vinny ever was, and he is better than Ramsey. Plus we could stop this ridiculous thing with Atlanta trying to rip us off for Schaub.
I'm tired of justifying my opinions every time someone just disagrees with me. Explain to me why you think he isn't? It's my opinion. I am entitled to it.
I would much rather draft any QB in this draft then hand the reigns over to Harrington. He has never done anything to show me he can be a good QB in this league.
Ya, but Im a Raider fan on a Jet board. Im supposed to get raped. Like I said, you get a more experienced QB for a lot less. Dont get me wrong, if Pennington can stay healthy, I always like the home grown guys if they can perform, and Pennington can perform.
I'm not disagreeing just don't really understand why you think Harrington is a better choice. My fear is that we are going to lose Ramsey to the bengals
Let them have him. My opinion is that Harrington got a raw deal in Detroit. Between a coach that never wanted him, to Matt Millen making moves to save his own ass, Harrington didn't have a legit chance. He has a decent build for a QB, a pretty damn good arm, and in a West Coast offense, I think he can shine. Ramsey couldn't hold his spot against Brunell. Not that Brunell hasn't been a very good QB in the NFL, but come on, he is quite a bit older. I'll take Harrington over Ramsey, Schaub over Harrington, Cutler over Schaub, and Croyle over Cutler. But that's just me. BTW: Sorry if I got a bit testy. It just seems like people are always looking to argue. My apologies.
I'm not as down on Harrington as most. With the rookie contract he's on, trading for him is not an option. If/when he's cut I'd definately sign him before giving up a pick for Ramsey.
Valid point. I actually see things the exact same way, in Ramsey's case though. I feel like Gibbs never liked him (and i won't even get into Spurrier), and never gave him a fair shot to develop. I'm not saying we should go grab Ramsey, but if I had a choice between him and Harrington, I would go Ramsey in a heartbeat. If you look at Ramsey's career numbers they're actually not bad. And the year he lost his job to Brunell, his numbers weren't horrible. He did throw a lot of picks, but in 7 games he threw for 500+ more yards, 3 more TD's and had a 60+ completion percentage (10 picks). Brunell in 9 games threw 6 picks.
Here is why I think you are mistaken: Harrington Games/TD's/Int's/rating 58-60-62-68 Harrington has been given the undisputed starting job with a team built around him. Starting receivers Charlie Rodgers, Roy Williams last year with the addition of Mike Williams this year. He also has had a good o-line along with RB Kevin Jones last year. O-by-the-way, he has a record of 18-40 as a starter. Ramsey Games/TD's/Int's/Rating 30-34-29-75 Receivers overs 3 years - Coles (toe), Gardner (50/50), Jacobs, McCants (sometimes), Thrash (castoff from the Eagles), Kevin Lockett, Jacquez Green, Chris Doering and Derrius Thompson,etc....... Offensive line play in 2002 & 2003 very poor. Ramsey record as a starter 12/15 Coaching over his 3 years?????
Hey whatever. Like I said, it's my opinion. I am sure we will have a definitive answer by the end of the next Super Bowl. Both guys will be wearing new uniforms for a year at that point, and we can see who is better. I'd still rather Croyle than anyone else so I guess it doesn't really matter.
I'm not sure waiting until the superbowl will be necessary neither one of these guys will even sniff the superbowl no matter where they end up, that includes the Jets i'm sorry to say!
I didn't mean to imply either one would see a SB this year. Trust me, I don't believe either will. I just meant by that point, we should have a better answer on who the more talented player is. (Then again, they may just both wind up career backups from this point out.)
