All the kids are in (other than my youngest at SU) so I'm cooking all 3 days. Today I'm making Bruschetta as an early snack then a big old pan of Paella on the grill. Chicken, chorizo, shrimp, clams and mussels. Cooler stocked with Blue Moon, Magic Hat and Narragansett (daughter went to URI) and Moscow Mules. What's up for you guys? _
Enjoy your weekend Stokes. As you cook, put some pictures up. I wonder what Grandpa C is up to this weekend?
Be in long island sound at least 2/3 days - fishing, kayak, jski around Northport bay and bluff off kings park...... Usual food and drink as well
Miller Lite, hamburgers and hotdogs today, Lasagna tomorrow, and cajun pork chops Monday. Happy Labor day weekend everybody!!! Go Jets!
Not much this weekend Brook. Staying away from the water since everyone that owns a fishing rod will be out there. Smoking a shoulder for some folks at my wife's job and a brisket point/flat for us. Add in some fresh sweetcorn, baked beans and a good amount of Makers Mark 46 and its all good! Maybe a movie this weekend. Perhaps even Date Night with Wifey!
Friday night: Beefsteak tomatoes from the farm, basil from the back deck, fresh mozz from the store, dribble of balsamic. Veal chops on the grill - just salt, pepper, garlic and rosie - less is more. Two hour old corn, five minutes boiling, s&p, butter - less is more. Saturday night barbecue on the way home. Decent brisket, roasted beets, lousy cole slaw, okay Brooklyn summer ale. A dozen or more loud, obnoxious, red-clad thirty-somethings loudly and profanely mourning the Badgers drubbing making for an annoying late dinner. WTF are they doing en masse on eastern Long Island? May they puke upon each other on the beach tomorrow.
Had football tailgating yesterday. Will probably watch the Southen 500 today and then go dove hunting tommorow.
Labor Day will go real early to beach (the last hurrah) PM cuisine will be grilled pork chops garlic, salt, pepper, Adobo, serve them up with applesauce and fresh salad. Tonight just the usual hot dogs and hamburgers , corn Common denominator Sam Adams Summer Ale. Cheers!!
4 cups of Arroz Bomba, 3 lbs chicken, 2 pounds 21-25 ct shrimp, 1 pound of chorizo and a passel of clams and mussels. We have a bit of leftovers. _
You know what I've been doing with my corn lately (besides watching it show up in my dumps)? Shuck it and wrap it in tin foil with a generous helping of butter, kosher salt, cracked pepper and hot red pepper flakes. Just keep rotating it round and round so it doesn't burn. The hot pepper flakes make it. _
Apps doing mussels steamed in white wine, garlic, shallots and fresh grown parsley. Have a big ass turkey breast I'm putting on the rotisserie with a Montreal rub, grilled asparagus and a salad with white balsamic dressing. _
