https://nypost.com/2019/02/07/christian-hackenberg-hypes-his-return-im-brand-new/ The historic Jets bust — a second-round pick who never took a snap in the regular season in his 2016 and ’17 seasons before getting traded to Oakland — believes he has identified and fixed the problem. Working with former Jets quarterback coach David Lee, Hackenberg has allegedly solved the windup issue he said he now believes kept him from ever appearing in an NFL game. The problem, according to Lee, has been Hackenberg’s motion. It was too heavy a windup, with Hackenberg reaching far back to generate power on his throws, which both apparently hindered accuracy and took too much time.
It was one of the few draft picks that when it was announced, I knew it was a terrible mistake. Terrible accuracy issues in college do not translate to the NFL. If he wasn't so stupidly drafted in the 2nd round by MM, but more like the 4th-7th round like he was supposed to, this wouldn't even be a discussion.
This bust is like 2 or three teams removed from the Jets. Shouldn't this post be in the Bengals thread?
Watching the AAF game now. Newsflash. As far as I can tell so far..... Hackenberg still stinks. Rooting for him, though. Not his fault our GM made a monumentally stupid decision picking him in the second round I feel bad for the kid.
C/ATT YDS YPA TD INT 2PT Christian Hackenberg 10/23 87 3.8 0 1 0 Is he still going to blame Jets coaches after this shit job?
I have no intention of watching one minute of this nonsense league (any more than I would watch AA baseball on TV), but can it possibly be true that Christian Hackenberg is one of the best out-of-work QBs around? Are there serious football people who think that he even has a prayer of having a successful career in professional football at this point? I don't get it.
He was only the 15th QB selected in the AAF quarterback draft, so this new league isn't exactly giddy over him.
His team put their back-up Q/B in after one poor Hackenberg moment and he promptly threw a pick on his first throw, so he hasn't got a lot of competition there. Thats probably why they ran the ball for most of the game.
