We use Kowalewski as a typical H-Back, moving from Slot to TE to FB. He?s doing OK blocking in the Rungame, but that?s about everything what he can do. If we want to use a player like that i think we should upgrade the position. Players like that usually fly under the Radar, and i?m not that much into College Football, so i have no clue if there?s anyone good available. Is there anyone available that we could get in round 5-7 who can lead block out of the backfield, has good Hands and is able to get the extra yard or two for the First down after the catch in the Flat?
I think he'd be worth a 3rd round pick. He is a better blocker than Mike Alstott, but not as good as Lorenzo Neal. He is a better runner/receiver than Neal, but not as good as Alstott. When you take everything into account, I expect he'll be as valuable to his team as Alstott and Neal were to their teams.
sounds more like a typical FB than a player that Defenses respect as thread from the TE or Slot position. and i don?t think we should spend a 3rd rounder on a player like that
Yeah, he is closer to a fullback than an H-back, but these players are used both ways, anyway. It's a not a big deal. I'm fairly confident Schmitt will be a good player in the NFL (the only guy I will say this about from this 2007 WVU team; I'm a WVU fan, so I've seen them a lot), and therefore, if the Jets want to take him on day 2 as early as round 3 or 4, I'll be fine with it.
Yes, he's probably the best H-back in the class. I think he will be a solid player. Then again, I thought Garrett Mills would have been a solid H-back and I dropped the ball on that one
Peyton Hillis is better than Owen Schmitt at everything other than lead blocking. Not sure if he will be there in the 5th.
