You weren't saying this shit earlier in the week proclaiming how you garbage team was going to whoop us apart. Enjoy another miserable winter in Buffalo dude.
firing Roman after just 2 weeks was a terrible move. how is that going to help the progression of Taylor, who played well last year? how does promoting Anthony Lynn, a RB's coach with 0 playcalling experience, help improve the situation? not sure who's call it was, but it was a bad move, so they're all responsible..
The offense was stuck in the 1980's. Ground and pound. 647 run plays in the playbook. How is scrapping that so you can actually have a passing attack, and getting your #1 receiver and weapons more involved in the offense, a bad thing? Welcome the Bills offense to 2016, at least theoretically. Who knows if it will actually happen, but I am a fan of at least trying. You have a dynamic QB, Sammy Watkins, Charles Clay, Goodwin and Woods, McCoy who is a receiving threat, and we are lining up playing power football. Come on.
' And is that the OCS fault, or the Head coach's? I lean toward it being the coach's fault, consdering every team he's been in charge of has played the SAME kind of style offensively, despite cycling through OC after OC. I wasn't a fan of Roman during his last year with SF, but he and Harbaugh seemed to utilize a dynamic QB in Kapernick just fine a few years ago... so maybe the coach is responsible for the offense'es underperferomance.
Poor Rex. It's like the world is against him. He keeps accidentally hiring all of these OCs who sabotage his team by running to ball a trillion times. Conspiracy alert!
Ok, how about I give you a team. You have the #1 offensive line in football, the top running backs, but a rookie QB and no real threat at WR. What type of offense are you going to run? The jets had no choice but to run that scheme and anyone who ran a passing offense with a rookie Mark Sanchez at the helm would be a moron. There's nobody who WOULDNT use a run-centered offense. Go to your second team. You have the #2 ranked defense, a pretty darn good offensive line, one of the most productive and electric running backs, but you have no QB (your options are EJ Manuel, checkdown Matt Cassel, and a street free agent who's been a career backup and has no NFL starts). What offense are you going to run? After all of that, now you finally have a QB who you think can be special, a WR who you know can be special, a threat at TE and RB, and some other nice complimentary pieces at WR. You are finally able to join the rest of the league. However, you have a power run heavy coordinator. You tell him over the offseason that you want to expand the offense and get the ball to your best players. The first game of the season you continue to have 3 and outs one after another and only score 7 points. You target your best player only 5 or so times. Next week you had 2 big plays and the rest of the time you still can't run the ball or have any kind of a passing attack. The coordinator barely targets your top player again and is not doing what you wanted him to do. You know you can't win any games if you dont have an offense that can move consistently and score points. Do you keep moving forward for the next 15 weeks with an offense you know is not going to work, or do you get rid of it early during the long week off and try to implement a different philosophy with 14 games left, one that focuses on getting the ball to your best players? The defense absolutely sucks and Rex needs to get that right. He also needs to be a better coach and be in control more. He needs to do a lot of things better, the offense is one of those things. If you can't score points it doesnt matter how good or bad your defense is, you won't win the game. The only way our offense was capable of scoring was through a big play, which we all know is not sustainable because they are few and far between. We need a better defense, and I'm sure they are trying to figure that out, but we also need to have an offense that can consistently move the ball and utilizes its best players. This was one move of like 5 that need to happen.
It is insane to come on this board and watch bills fans talk about how rex need to progress and become a more well rounded coach. Wasn't it just a few years ago you all were clowning us because you knew rex was not a good headcoach and laughed at all of us because of his blunders. Rex is not a good coach, its as simple as that. We were fooled by two years of success and you guys, i don't even know how any of you bought into the rex bs hype. The dude is just hot air ready to explode.
Here's the thing, though... Greg Roman showed he could adjust and help uitlize Kaeprnick under another head coach in Harbaugh who was known for running a power running, double TE set at offense at Stanford. This isn't to say Kaepernick and are the same type of player , as Tyrod played under tougher conditions last season and is a better passer, but Roman did an excellent job of maximizing Kaepernick for as long as he could. As I said before, I'm not a fan of his, but considering the fact that he's already shown he can adjust to his QB, I think Rex is the problem. Even the, you don't fire a coach in week two. Do this before the season or at the end of last season. A first time OC is not going to magically fix this Bills offense.
All through training camp and 4 pre-season games Rex didn't notice that they weren't passing enough to his satisfaction?
I've never been one to post on opposing teams forums but after the Jets beat Buffalo I read through some threads as an observer on BillsZone and just about 90% of the fan base can not stand Taylor as their QB of the future. The heart of their fan base can't stand him as a QB. They all compliment his powerful arm in regards to his deep ball but they seem absolutely disgusted with his inability to read defenses while keeping drives alive. Many Buffalo fans feel he struggles seeing over the line and therefore is very poor at hitting receivers over the middle of the field. He's pretty much a glorified running back and not even close to being a productive pocket passing quarterback in which can keep the chains moving with precision. In other words he's a deep ball waiting to happen or a complete bust of a game manager. Rex Ryan will use as many coaching scapegoat's as possible until his circus gig is over as Bills head coach. We as Jet fans know better than anyone; Rex Ryan is a glorified defensive coordinator who's in over his head as a head coach. You'll never see a serious & focused Todd Bowles put a tattoo of a players jersey on his body (Mark Sanchez). The guy is a circus clown.
You want to get away from running too much. So you fire the OC and replace him with the running backs coach. Makes total sense.
You do? Well you're paying him like one anyway. Now if only you can get some fucking coaches that know how to utilize him, eh?
Oh no, Lynn is a passing savant. As I said, I really think this move makes sense. It wasn't my top choice for you though. I think you should've fired Roman and made Rob Ryan the new OC. Since running backs coaches know a lot about passing, defensive coordinators, especially brilliant ones like Rob, naturally know even more.
Hey. Taylor, throughout just about 90% of Buffalo's fan base reminds them of a glorified running back trying to play the position of an NFL quarterback. So i guess you could say a running backs coach becoming your teams offensive coordinator makes perfect sense, doesn't it? Some Jet fans may not know the truth about Tyrod Taylor although knowledgeable Buffalo fans do. He's not some type of spring chicken such as a Christian Hackenberg or even Bryce Petty either. Truth be told he's already 27 years old as a 6th year player who was drafted back in 2011 (180th overall). But yet Buffalo fans still state that at only 6'1 Taylor struggles seeing over the line therefore he's unable to find open receivers over the middle of the field. During his 6th year in the league he only has a rocket arm (Jay Cutler) but yet (still) doesn't have the quarterbacking ability to stand in the pocket, scan the field and keep the chains moving. At the age of 27 lots of Bills fans are disgusted by the fact that he seems to be (looks to be) nothing more than a glorified running back at the QB position who's either a H.R long bomb threat or a complete bust of a QB. He seems to struggle making his teammates better. These are not good signs for a QB who's no spring chicken.
