Gholston Harris Pace Thomas/Hardy eventually just Hardy That would be disgusting. We'd have one of the best pass rushes in the league...
hes gonna be sick...and you cant type &fmt=18 at the end of any youtube video link to make it HighDef quality
Hardy's a beast, but he's injured right now. That could hurt his draft stock, and he may opt to stay at Ole Miss for another year.
I'm sort of a noob when it comes to this stuff, but if we want a massive pass rush wouldn't it make sense to get an extremely good 3-4 defensive end to allow our linebackers more freedom? Our linebackers are pretty solid right now, maybe we should focus on upgrading the line.
Eric Barton is almost done, and Vernon Gholston isn't a sure thing yet...but he'll take some time to develop. Pace has looked great so far, and we all know what David Harris can do. If a stud inside linebacker prospect falls into our laps, I wouldn't be dissapointed with the pick. Rey Maualuga and Jasper Brinkley are monsters...both weigh over 260 pounds and they fly to the ball. These guys are ideal middle linebackers in the 3-4. Maualuga might take a little time to adapt, but Brinkley has experience in the 3-4 and he's dominated.
Of course...luckily the draft is 7 rounds and not 1...Hardy IMO is better than any of the potential 3-4 DL candidates out there... I agree that DE/OLB isn't the biggest need for us, but theres a few reasons why I think Hardy is worth talking about here: 1. He's nasty. 2. First round picks should always be BPA. We NEEDED a K and a TE in 2005, so we went and drafted for need early. Look how that turned out. You're trying to improve your team in the short AND long term with the draft, something many fans forget. BTW: Yes, Hardy will be a first round pick, and a pretty high one at that. 3. The whole "never have too many pass rushers" thing. 4. He's nasty.
rey maualuga will probably end up a top 10 pick. especially if the Trojans get to the national championship (which is highly possible if they stay consistent)
i think DE/OLB is a pretty big need for us actually lol. theres no depth anywhere at either position. with bartons age, thomas' inconsistency, and the continued development of Gholston it makes it even more of a legit concern. and on DL, CJ Mosely is a great rotation guy. thats about it. Ellis is getting there in age also. alot remains to be seen. i love the look of our improved defense, but i definitely wouldnt mind adding to it early. we'll see how everything pans out. getting that 2nd rder for vilma will be the breaking point of this draft. an extra body or more ammo to trade up will equate to alot we cant even discuss yet. anybody know how much playing time robertson is getting?
