Not so easy to answer right? P.S. Eventually, I will merge this thread with Adam Gase thread. Just wanted to pulse the board with a poll that's it
It's actually very easy, Bowles was a bad coach but he has some redeeming qualities in that he's respected as a person, and he isn't terrible at coaching a defense (we did better with him calling the plays than Kacy Rodgers). Gase on the other hand has zero redeeming qualities and is a total douchebag. I wouldn't let him coach my local high school team.
As HOJ said, Bowles was a bad HC, but wasn't an incompetent asshole like Gase. Plus Bowles was saddled with Maccagan's poor player acquisition his entire time here. All that said, though it's like choosing which variety of shit to make a shit sandwich out of.
Bowles was bad but managed a winning season and was game away from the playoffs. The poll should be between Gase and Kotite. That’s a tough call.
You knew Bowles at least tried. He was in over his head but his teams at least respected him and would talk about the type of leader he was. Plus he actually paid attention to both sides of the ball.
This is a very easy poll. Bowles wasn't great but at least most the games were competitive under Bowles. Gase. Is. A. Fucking. Joke. He is Kotite bad. That is a better poll question actually. Who is worse... Kotite or Gase?
Gase, easily. Bowles is a good coach. Maybe not a good head coach, although he could be one of those guys who could have success in a second try in the right situation. Gase, on the other hand. Yeah..no.
Bowles got a coaching job in the NFL the year after the Jets fired him. We'll see what happens to Gase after this disaster.
I saw a Gase/Kotite poll on Facebook and the overwhelming majority picked Gase. That makes me think they are either too young to have seen just how bad Kotite was or we live in the moment. Today is always worse than yesterday. Bowles was a good defensive coordinator who let his buddy call the plays even though we all could see that he wasn't qualified - DUMB. He was not a good Head Coach at all. No, the players didn't respect him - doesn't anyone remember the no-shows and late-shows to team meetings? Players liked him because they got away with way too much. The inmates ran the asylum. Gase is a bad HC because he appears to let his ego get in the way of actually developing a workable game plan for the team with the pieces he has to work with. While it's true that this team has very little talent, what we are seeing on the field is inexcusable. Both Gase and Bowles are bad, very bad, but Kotite was horrendous. At least he had some semblance of a roster to work with and won FOUR freakin' games in two seasons. Gase and Bowles both have won more than that during their tenures.
Gase by far worse, Bowles only good one year... otherwise boring! Gase grossly incompetent. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, kotitte/Gase. Oh man that’s a toss up! Since Macc hired Gase, will say Gase... but Kotite was bad.
Gase got a coaching job IMMEDIATELY after being fired. He may not know much about coaching football, but he's a hell of a self-promotional genius.
I supported Bowles. At least our players loved to play for him. Guys like Jamal Adams stuck up for him vs the media. Sam Darnold trusted him. Man. Gase is awful and JD is trash too.
I think it's more that Peyton Manning is a good salesman. I don't think Gase is our coach if Peyton Manning had lost his phone that day.
Bowles tried a lot harder, knew defense and was close to his players. He had a moron for a DC. He also got completely screwed over by a massively incompetent GM who drafted crap and kept him in the dark. Gase does not have the pulse of his players, his offensive genius has shown nothing, and he also has a moron for OC. Difference being Gase calls all offensive plays and are a mess. Plus he is getting nothing but support from his GM. So far Gase has shown no redeeming qualities for this team.
