We're all draftniks here, so you can all appreciate this article. It highlights a few players (known and under the radar) and discusses strengths and weaknesses heading into Wednesday's combine day 1. Check out the Jordy Nelson (WR, Kansas St.) video where he burns Aqib Talib and pay attention to the notes on Vernon Gholston at the very bottom.

If you get a chance go to NFL.com and look at video of Mayock's top 5 ends/lineman. He really likes Gholston. The knock on him is his motor and whether he would be a guy who guys all-out on every play at the NFL level. To me motor is such a relative thing, it didn't seem to me that he was taking plays off, its just your good on some plays and ok on others. What I didn't realize is how quick he is off the line. I'm really excited about this guy, he can bull rush really well, which a lot of ends can't do, and he is quick off the ball. People criticize for him because he doesn't have a great array of pass rushing oves, but I really feel that can be developed. To develop a bull rush I feel is tougher than developing a good swim move.

Yeah Mayock does some great recaps of the top tier players. I'm so psyched for the combine and I'm furious that I don't get NFL network.

I watched that. I was really impressed on how Gholston was a yard and a half ahead of everyone once the snap was called.. Inm the NFL that is very crucial. I just hope it doesnt turn into offsides penalties at the next level.

The motor thing is kind of bull. He doesn't give up on some plays, he just doesn't hustle once the play goes away from him. Two different things. Having a player hustle in pursuit when the play goes away from him is teachable, nonstop motor (going hard on every play) isn't. If it's a sweep left and he's on the right, he will go hard for the first second or so but he won't turn around and run downfield to help cover the play should it break open. That is what I see from him, and that is a piss poor knock on a player, as it is something easily fixed.
