OK, Mark Sanchez. You were there at Sun Life Stadium Sunday night, watching as Drew Brees went mano a mano with Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl. You watched greatness at the quarterback position everywhere you turned, until the end, when Manning made the kind of mistake you made too often during your rookie season until the growing pains stopped.
So Brees will be shaking hands in the White House with the president. If Jets coach Rex Ryan intends on shaking hands in the White House with the president, then Super Bowl XLIV should serve as a reminder that he had better bring an elite quarterback to Super Bowl XLV.

WET SANCHEZ: If quarterback Mark Sanchez wants to be able to douse coach Rex Ryan from the Gatorade bucket like he's being drenched by Michael Clarke Duncan (left) and Marlon Wayans after coaching winning team at the DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, he had better pick up his game next season, Steve Serby says.

    That means you, Mark Sanchez.
It means Ryan, and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, and owner Woody Johnson, and Jets fans who are robbing Peter to pay PSLs inside the new stadium will be counting on you to take that giant leap towards greatness in 2010.
    SUPER BOWL XLV ODDS
    MEXICO GAME POSSIBLE
It's why the Jets traded up with former coach Eric Mangini to grab you, because they saw greatness, not immediately, of course, because it rarely works that way, but sooner rather than later.
They saw, in many ways, the young Brees.
When Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who worked with Brees in San Diego, made his predraft presentation, this is what he talked about: the comparison between Brees and Sanchez.
"He thought both had good feet, could throw the ball accurately on the move, and could throw with rhythm and anticipation," Tannenbaum told The Post last night.
"I thought Mark had kind of his own unique style. . . . Mark may be just a little bit taller. They do have some similarities. We didn't draft Mark just because he may have been just like Drew Brees."
Once your knees are right, Kid, once you learn how to slide, you will be required to be more than a mere caretaker for a punishing ground game and a violent, havoc-wreaking defense. The fans will be counting on you to start winning games for the Jets on your own.
Not each and every game, the way Manning does in Indianapolis, the way Brees does in New Orleans, the way Tom Brady has done in New England. But on those occasions when Shonn Greene and company are greeted by what seems like the Chinese army, on those occasions when the great defense Ryan keeps talking about betrays him in the fourth quarter, it will be on you.
I like what Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams said Sunday night: In Brees, he has a quarterback who can cover for his coaching mistakes.
You will have to inspire faith in your head coach that he has a quarterback who can cover for his coaching mistakes.
Big Ben Roethlisberger won his first Super Bowl in his second season. He was 23 years old, the youngest quarterback to win one. You'll be 24 at Super Bowl XLV. They handed Roethlisberger a ground-and-pound option and a remorseless defense, just as you again will have. There doesn't have to be any sophomore jinx for you, either.
You will have 31 NFL starts under your belt by the time the 2010 playoffs roll around. Joe Montana started 24 games before the 1981 playoff run that led to his first Super Bowl victory. I know, I know, he's Joe Montana, and you're not. Dan Marino started 25 games before the playoff run that got him to Super Bowl XIX, where he lost to Montana at the end of his second season. I know, I know, Marino is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Brady started 14 games before winning his first Super Bowl.
So why not you? I know we're asking a lot, but that's what we do here in New York. Besides, it will be 42 years and counting for long-suffering Jets fans when next season begins. Enough is enough!
The Colts will be back, because of Manning, and the Saints will remain a force to be reckoned with because of Brees. The Steelers will be back, because of Roethlisberger. The Chargers will be in play because of Philip Rivers. The Vikings will be contenders when Brett Favre comes back from the brink of retirement (ugh) yet again. The Patriots will always be a threat because of Brady. And on and on it goes.
The Jets can't be Super without you, Kid. It's great that you burn for greatness. Burn, Baby, Burn.
    Or Brees, Baby, Brees.

Another hyped-up article from Serby about the Super Bowl and putting it all on the QB, he's had a hard-on for the next Joe Namath ever since Joe left. Richard Todd stuffed him into a locker one time but it didn't do any good.

"Good read" and New York Post should never be in the same sentence.

My problem with the article is it is a nothing article in essence.

The simple analysis of it, Sanchez wants to win a Super Bowl, the writer's brilliant reply, Sanchez will have to be apart of that happening. No shit.

But that is the nature of articles in the offseason.

    Kind of stated the obvious.

Jets can't win a SB without Sanchez playing well. Sanchez, who happens to be the QB. Brilliant!
