Ramsey hit Laveranues Coles for a touchdown and Justin McCareins for a long completion, but he and center Charles Missant both ran a lap following a fumbled handoff. The same went for Clemens and Norm Katnik...Clemens atoned later with a bomb to fellow rookie Brad Smith...The biggest hit of Thursday's practice was by Andre Dyson, who collided with Wallace Wright.

Mangini said he was impressed with the wide receivers and defensive backs ability to catch the football on Wednesday. Mangini showed the team Derek Jeter's remarkable diving catch into the stands against the Red Sox in 2004 as an example of keeping focused on a play.

"He didn't focus on the fact that he's so close to the boundary, he catches the ball and goes into the stands. To me that's exactly what we're looking for: outstanding players with outstanding effort. That was a great example of the type of things that we're looking for from all of our players here."

There was some technical difficulties with the music that has been a constant since the first few days of training camp. The CD, which was playing classic rock hits like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Tom Sawyer," began to skip. No word if the DJ was forced to run a lap.

I want to see Brad Smith get some serious playing time tommorow. This kid is just to talented and fast not to include him in the game plan. I know its pres-season, and Mangini doesn't want to show much (that reasoning always baffles me beyond belief) but sooner or later we've got to get this kid involved on a consistent basis. Its like wasting big play talent.
