I have a few questions about going to the game on Sunday which I hoped I could get some feedback on. I do have a parking pass. However, I need to catch a train at Newark at 9:30 to get back to school. My friend and I are staying the entire game and will reschedule the train if necessary. However, we are both hoping to not do that because the 11:30 train is almost double in price. (never thought that)

Anyway, where would you guys suggest I park to make the quickest exit from the stadium. Also, is there one exit that would be better if I want to get to Newark from there? What time should we get to the parking lot in order to get these spots or any good spots? Hopefully it's not really early because it's just the two of us and we don't really have much to do before the game as far as tailgating and everything. Thanks for anybody who can answer.

Rt 3 West to Rt 21 McCarter highway will take you right into Newark when you leave. It will take you 30 minutes or less depending on traffic. You can also access Rt 78 or Rt 22 from there. The best thing to do is to utilize the Rt 3 exit on your way to the game. This way when you leave you will be parked where you need to be.

The traffic exiting the stadium usually is calm about 1 hour after the game is over. You should have plenty of time to get to Newark even if you left at 8:00pm. The ride south on the Turnpike is usually pretty good.

If the game is a blowout, lots of fans leave before the game ends. The traffic eases quicker then.

To make sure you get a spot of your liking (ie near the Stadium) you should arrive about 3 hours before the game. Especially for a 4:00pm start. You can get close up to 2 hours but are cutting it close.

I'm not sure if they block off the Sheraton and Extended Stay parking lots right across the stadium. You could probably park there and walk the Sheraton parkway right to the stadium, the parkway goes right under Route 3.

I was told that I shouldn't even look for those desired parking spots (near the stadium) and that I would be better off looking towards the back near where the exits are so I could make a quicker exit. Is that a good recommendation or does it not matter.

Good recommendation. What I meant by better spots is NOT being in the lots on the IZOD Arena side of the highway.

Oh, ok. Sorry for all the questions but I have one last one. What time would you say I would need to get to the game to get a parking spot near one of the exits. I was planning on getting there around 2 hours before but I can leave earlier if necessary.

You answered your own question. Leave earlier. For a 4:00pm game, people arrive in time to enjoy the atmosphere since they don't have to wake up as early as if it were a 1:00pm. game.
