I said last week I would take Lynch at 20 but I'm back peddling now. Not because I don't like Lynch but more so I like Petty better. I went back and watched film from last year and believe if Petty was in this year's draft he would go as high or higher than Lynch and now Petty has a year in the system.
Mac.. if you're out there ready this.. please don't take Lynch unless he's a 4th round pick. Thanks man!
Geno Smith part deux? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/04/28/late-word-emerges-of-a-paxton-lynch-free-fall/ Late word emerges of a Paxton Lynch free fall Posted by Mike Florio on April 28, 2016, 11:22 AM EDT Some have quarterback Paxton Lynch going in the top 10 of the draft. As the draft approaches, some have him not going in round one at all. (Maybe Lynch wasn’t able to whip up a sufficiently impressive soufflé.) Adam Schefter of ESPN says this: “Someone may be laying in ambush, but unless Dallas trades back into first round, hard to find a landing spot for [Lynch].” Some have suggested that the Saints could target Lynch. (That’s not happening.) Others have linked Lynch to the Jets. Rich Cimini of ESPN.com says that’s not happening, either. “Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch is the player most commonly linked to the Jets in mock drafts (including by me in the televised NFL Nation mock draft on Tuesday night), but I no longer believe that will happen,” Cimini writes. “I received late information on Lynch, and the sense I get is the organization has concerns about his maturity and ability to adjust to a pro-style offense. There’s a lot of smoke leading up to the draft, and sometimes it takes a while to see through it.” Then again, this may still be part of the smoke. As the process approaches, it become more, not less, important to keep people guessing. And there’s nothing like floating fake information to help a team keep its true intentions concealed. Besides, who ever goes back and dissects what was and wasn’t true in the days and weeks before the draft? Fans want to look ahead to the next thing; after the draft, the next thing to which to look forward is training camp, where all the rookies get thrown into a blender with all the veterans and we thereafter only pay attention to the rookies who get a chance to play — and who play well. For now, the objective of every team is doing anything they can to keep their real plans hidden.
Paxton Lynch while he's a complete bro and seems like a good hang guy, that never translates to a good quarterback. Getting that Gabbert vibe.
I got this vibe about him after watching a post game interview....he seemed pretty dumb and immature as a QB No surprise all of this is now coming out
The size and athleticism are all shiny and bright and draw you in. But upon closer inspection it's just a veneer. Don't impulse buy here because you covet something.
Everybody with the exception of one or two have us taking him..Rotoworld has us possibly moving up to take him. 20. New York Jets -- Memphis QB Paxton Lynch A Wednesday report from ESPN New York's Rich Cimini claimed the Jets have "cooled" on Lynch. That seems like tactical pre-draft misinformation, for a team to so suddenly and publicly "cool" on a player the very day before the draft. Lynch could also be drafted much earlier than this, although it could be after the Jets move up the board to secure him. In Rotoworld college prospects guru Josh Norris' mock, he projected a 49ers-Jets trade with Lynch ending up on Gang Green.
Actually, he is Flacco's size and you're right, you can't teach that. I will take him in a heartbeat and so what if he's not the answer, we know Smith isn't and it seems they doubt Petty is...so what the hell, we once drafted Gholsten in the first round and it can't be any worse than that.
I'm relieved we didn't draft Lynch. I'm a big Petty fan and hoping he can be the future with now a year under his belt.
