I don't understand how so many guys are saying we have so many holes and this year is already a bust and just for rebuilding.
Its true we don't have the greatest line up right now, but all we are is 2 to 3 players away from really making a run at the playoffs and from there, who knows?. If we pick up a guy like Williams or Hawk or Carpenter or get lucky late in the draft all of a sudden our defense would look pretty dominate. If we pick up D'Brick or V Davis or Deangelo Williams or Mangold or Winston all of a sudden our offense would look pretty good. You don't need a great QB to win but you do need time in the pocket and weapons to carry and catch the ball. Its not rocket science GOOD COACHING, GOOD PLAYERS, GOOD EFFORT = WINS (remember i said good not great)
So lets give players like Chad, Ramsey, our receivers and our running backs a chance they are or were top players at thier drafts also and maybe given a real chance they will succeed

    what do you mean

a chance to win the super bowl?
a chance to have a winning record?
a chance to get in the playoffs?
a chance to beat last seasons record?

i dont know if we can do any, (except the last one)

but trust me, no one in the world gives them more chances than the people on this board

we are unsure at the running back position from what i hear. personally i think curtis has some juice left but idk i heard he's "done".

and we just got a new coach. we have no proven QB and our Wrs havent been too dominant the past couple years. our defense just lost one of the best corners in the league and one of the best D-lineman. so as of now, if u think the jets can win the division and make the playoffs, ur crazy. i'm sorry but i just cant see it happening. i think this will be a 2 or 3 year turnaround. in 07 we'll have a shot and by 08 we'll be good for sure.

The prblem isn't holes as much as questionable holes to fill. There's about several maybe's on our team right now. The 2006 season is gonna be a big evaluation. Just like Marvin Lewis' first year with the Bengals.

I agree we have alot of "maybes" but guys like Ramsey really never had a chance and he still put up numbers as good as Eli Manning who if you asked me in the middle of last year I would have taken in a heartbeat. Chad is smart but his arm is obviously questionable
Our recievers never had a chance when our QBs were running for thier lives and not given an opportunity to open the field and just dumped the ball off
Our Defense was ranked 12th last year and that was after being on the field 75 to 80% of the game so you can't do much better than that.
Our RBs were keyed on with 8 men in the box so were did we expect them to run
Mawae was great but after his injury and his locker room lawyer mentality I am happy he is gone, for a long time there was a bad team vibe on the jets I always put it on Herm but I am sure certain guys were less than beneficial in getting the team up for the games.
Our CAP problems looked pretty dire 2 months ago and now were fine we picked up quality players in FA and I think they will be able to contribute immediatly.
Players like Pouha might become exceleent players in the new defensive scheme he is big and he should be able to occupy a couple of blockers e very down which in the 3-4 is his job and our other D-lineman
So we have alot of upside as i see it now with alot more upside after the draft and in the next few years

    That is a great analogy.

The problem with our team right now is that we have far too many question marks, and pretty much no playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Also, you can't expect to take 5-7 rookies, place them into the starting lineup, and expect good things. Young players need time to adjust to the NFL and to develop.

Trading down would be a decent option. We'd pick up a valuable extra pick and still be able to draft Hawk/Davis/D'Brick.

Trust me, the players in the locker room will line-up in early September and feel that have as good a chance as any other team. Whether us fans give them a chance or not, they are not listening. You think Vilma is thinking about 2007 right now, feeling as though 2006 is just for rebuilding?

I just watched the college players on ESPN2 let me tell you if we pick up a player like V Davis ( total aminal BIG, FAST,AGILE) at #4 or #7 if we move down a couple of spots and we pick up carpenter or greenway at # 29 along with the best O-lineman at #35 we would be well on our way

Too many people are going to be dissapointed. I see the jets getting to 7-9 at best 8-8 but were definately not a playoff team that just laughable... lets compare our team to kansas city... who did not make the playoffs last year.

Jets O Line- completely shit.. even with D'Brick or Justice still a bad line--------KC- probably the best in the NFL. Hell look at what they did for Johnston

Jets D Line- Shit if we convert to 3-4 without a proper nose tackle- KC- Marginal OK line but it got the job done.

Jets linebackers- I would say better than KCs with the addition of another young backer int he draft- KC- cant tackle

Jets QBS- wut do i say everyone knows neither of them is gonna win a SB------ KC- They got Trent Green

Jets RBs- Martin is not going to win a SB and Houston is young- KC- Larry Johnston is a beast and Priest Holmes may play

The other positions, with mabey the exception of safety KC wins.

Jets defence--- i would say 68/100 KC defence 59/100

Jets offence--- 51/100 KC Offence 89/100

We arent as good as last years KC team

    Im with you man.

Our secondary can hang with any secondary out there..

Our linebackers are good we are set there.

Our DLINE well if we get mario we are set, if not im sure we will pick up a good DE to pass rush.

Our HB position is fine with martin, blaylock, houston.

Our WR's we could use one more WR to compliment coles unless McCareins shows up and plays to his potential.

Our TE's are ok, we can manage, unless we draft davis then we would have an explosive TE tandem.

Our OLINE, man we have our right guard, our left tackle, left guard, we just need a center and a RT, we can fill those spots in the draft, mangold and choose a tackle.

Our QB's penny is probably one, but you still have to give him a chance, ramsey, i still think can be a player. And f not we can draft brady quinn next year.

With all this said i think we can be a over .500 team, and maybe make the playoffs if we have a good draft. Mangold, mcneill or ocallaghan, mario or davis, and pick ups later on. If we get these guys will probably make the playoffs, but it all falls on ramsey, if we don't draft a QB.

This team has NO DEPTH!!! Except for maybe LB. The dropoff from the starters to backups is considerable at most positions, and some of the starters are questionable.

    O-Line - Jones-questionable, Kendall-Old, Moore-coming along slowly.
Teague and Clement - old, back-up vet experience.
Snell, Missant, Katnick, Cavka, Morley - projects at best.

D-Line - Need a NT and no depth (except for Pouha)

QB - We all know the situation

RB - Can get by for this year, and the Jury is out on Houston.

WR - Coles, McCairens, Cothery, and Dwight. Need one more for depth.

TE - good corp. with Jolley, Baker, and Dreesen. Not great but good.

CB and S - Decent starters, but no depth.

Other than TE and LB, there is no depth. No young players for the future, or fighting for a job. If anyone thinks the OLine is only 2 or 3 players away from being good they are high. If a starter gets hurt, the Jets are screwed. Who is going to start? Morley? Cavka? Say hello to another 5 QBs.

The Jets need depth in a bad way.

    Gotta add to this
RB-Definitely wearing down, but I damn sure wouldn't draft one high in this draft. I think one of the better backs is Maurice Drew Jones, but he will be gone by the 71.
LB-Good, but we could use an outside linebacker
    OL-Needs improvement and depth
    Safeties-Pretty Good
CB-Need more seasoning and we could use another for Nickel and Dime packages
DL-Pretty Good, but could use another playmaker
WR-OK, They are tough, but don't scare anyone.
    TE-Definitely don't scare anyone
    Baker (Constantly MIA)
Jolley Who the "F" is he. Rookie TE's performed better than this hunk of junk, plus he can't block. Baker was never considered a blocker, that is why he was the second TE to Anthony Becht who was slow and had questionable hands, but he could block. Baker has been the back-up for a reason. I thought at one point he would turn into something special. He is a back-up and probably always will be. 10 years between the two of these guys and we are still waiting.....
How many more chances do they need?
