But seriously, McElroy is very methodical and smart with the ball. He isn't going to kill you with the deep pass but I always have liked him. I feel like Sanchez must have nudes of Rex or something and that's the only reason he's still in the mix. Its sad we will never see McElroy get a chance probably.

I think you are better off with death than McElroy.

If we give you McElroy we'll probably give him a good shot at death over the few weeks that he has the job.

Seriously, did you watch the games McElroy played in last year? Whether you think he has the arm for it or not he doesn't have the survival instincts of an NFL QB. He's going to be a shoulder or a knee or a concussion in fairly short order after his first prolonged exposure to the NFL.

i've said this since last season ended. give mcelroy the reins for a year, sanchez is a bum sit his ass on the pine, and (hopefully) develop geno so that when we have a top 5 pick next april we go and get a playmaker like Marquise Lee

    You're getting death, then.

If Geno doesn't show any progress in the Eagles game then McElroy should start.

    Sanchez is a bum.

Smith just hasn't picked it up yet.

    Simms is too new.

I say let McElroy play, let Smith just learn this season and either we make the playoffs or we do terrible and get a great pick in the draft.

McElroy should start he is a perfect fit for the west coast offense, then Geno has time to learn and move into the starting spot.

God, the fact that we're debating McElroy or Simms starting is incredibly depressing.

McElroy did okay last year considering he had no reps with the 1's and was mostly inactive. This year his arm strength has improved, and he's gotten some more reps this year. I think he can hold the fort until Geno is ready.

Death is usually not the answer, but it works here.

Agreed! McElroy has no playing time, always hurt and has a weak arm. His only friend is a soft turf which he is laying on way too much. Give me Simms over anyone except Sanchez right now.

Sanchez is much better than McElroy and no matter how fed up you get with Mark, that will never change.

Last year McElroy was terrible, what was he sacked 20 times in one game? he was an absolute mess back there.

To think we're down to McElroy or Simms starting the season is ridiculous. Epic failure on Idzik's part.

why would you think that we are down to simms or mcelroy starting the season? have sanchez and geno both been cut?

Simms looks better than Mcelroy. Seems like Mcelroy has some skills but is not likely to be able to be a starting qb in the nfl.
