I think McDougle should at least get a couple reps with the starters vs. the Bengals saturday just to see how he handles it. Patterson looked....as bad as you can get. It reminded me of last year's secondary. I KNOW it's only one game...which is why they should still start Patterson...but maybe on the second series...let McDougle step in. Also....I haven't heard a lot of people talking about this (because Patterson is in spotlight), but Kyle Wilson also looked bad. I never liked Kyle Wilson or what he brings. He brings penalties and good tackling AFTER giving up completions. McDougle opposite Milliner and move Patterson into the slot (Patterson's best position). That should be what they test next game for at least a series. Jets need to sort out secondary problems early since they face the league's top QBs and WRs in the first couple weeks.
Yeah McDougle and Walls should get starter reps on the outside vs the Bengals. Hopefully it's just rust or something but Patterson doesn't seem to be worth what we are paying him at all, even if we successfully slide him into the slot.
It hurts me a bit to see paterson with number 24 lol he didnt pick the right number for his jersey, but i think he will be better by week 1 then mcdougle he wasnt this bad in miami last year till he got hurt.
With the exception of a couple of members, the majority on this board think Wilson sucks and have been saying it for quite a while. Anywho, let's just wait till the season starts, these guys are not in game shape yet. I'm sure the staff and the FO see what we see. They will put the best team they can on the field. See you in 3 weeks.
Can anyone with more knowledge than me of our depth chart explain to me why the hell Kyle Wilson's ass hasnt been cut yet? He might be the worst CB in the entire NFL
CB in Rex's system are not one of the positions you can be thrown to the wolves and succeed. In that respect I give Peterson another shot to redeem himself but he definitely looked lost. I honestly think that Rex learned a lot from throwing Milliner out there last season, which could be playing on his decisions on Pryor and McDougle
I'd like to see McDougle given some starter reps. I really love the way he's always tracking the ball. Let's see what he can do.
Walls should also get some reps with the 1s. He was solid when entering for Dee last year and I don't see why he doesn't get more of an opportunity. You guys are overstating how bad Wilson is though. He was Terrible (with a capital T) when Rex put him on the outside his first couple years, but he's been more than serviceable since he moved to the nickel. I put absolutely 0 stock into how he performed in the first preseason game given I've seen him perform admirably in the slot over the course of an entire season. 16 regular season games > 1 preseason quarter
Got no choice but to give McDougle some more PT. Spent a valuable pick on him and the other CB's (besides Milliner) on the team are mediocre at best. Let's see if he gives the pass D anything.
McDougle and Walls both deserve more first team reps. Appears Milliner is continuing where he left off
I think McDougle, Wilson and Patterson's best position is at the nickel with McDougle ultimately being the best one.
I don't understand how the Jets have over $20 million in cap room, yet no qualified #2 corner. After opening up against Matt Schaub, the Jets take on Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler, Matthew Stafford, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady all in a row. You need a solid secondary to compete with them.
