The New York Football Giants have landed in Kansas City, a destination they weren't planning on when they began their voyage to the land of Frozen Lakes, Minnesota. The Giants' team plane was diverted due to a blizzard that is currently wreaking havoc in Minnesota, according to team spokesman Pat Hanlon. The Minneapolis-St. Paul airport was closed because of heavy snow and high winds. It's unclear when the G-men will be able to resume their travel plans. They're scheduled to play the Vikings at the Metrodome on Sunday at noon CST. Two feet of snow is expected from this storm, which caused the Giants to change their plans once, earlier on Saturday morning. They left New Jersey around 9:30 a.m., about 3 1/2 hours earlier than their usual charter flights. They hoped to get to Minnesota before the worst of the storm. The storm is expected to end later Saturday, but for now, the Giants are stuck in Chiefs Country. Brett Favre musta sold his soul to Mother Nature to get that extra time of rest needed. :rofl2: This dude isn't losing his job. Tough break/miscalculation for Big Blue though..ironic that they get Miami up before time to get them ready for tough weather yet don't get themselves out earlier for their game.
They're staying in KC tonight. Will fly to Minny early tomorrow morning. The NFL has to push this game back to 4 I would think.
Karma's a bitch. Intersting read, thanks. The weather is not super over here in Idaho right now either... Wondering if any other teams are having problems.
That's gonna be weird to have another one of those Jets/Giants playing same time scenarios. I hope FOX shows another 1PM game because being stuck with Bengals/Steelers as the lone 1PM game in the NYC market is terrible. At least give FOX WSH/TB or something.
You guys are aware that the Giants did not "get Miami up here" to practice IN A CLIMATE CONTROLLED DOME, they allowed them access to the facility so that the owner could take his team to see the Broadway play Lombardi? Mara apologized for it causing a problem and said had he known it made some angry he would have spoken to Woody about it.
I still do not see how this fucks over the Jets? The Dolphins spent a night watching a Broadway play and probably partying in NYC last night?
We'll see if the Giants feel the same way if we invite the Cowgirls up for some hospitality next year? So are you saying the Giants didn't let them practice in their facility? Are you saying they couldn't come to NY and see the play some other time? It's a ready-made excuse, don't you think? http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2010/12/dolphins_practice_clearance_do.html
Let the Cowboys come up I do not think you will hear any moaning, my guess is Florham Park is too far anyway to what the Cowboys would be looking for anyway..if they are looking to proximity as to where the games are played and NYC. and to answer your question...my guess is no that Owner Stephen Ross probably could not have gotten his entire 53 man roster, staff of coaches and personnell all in NY to see a play that has a limited time showing at the same time. I still do not understand how a practice in a CLIMATE CONTROLLED dome helps the Fins in any way? Now had they somehow allowed them access to the stadium? Well thats a different story.
I really do not believe that the Giants meant any malice or as a way to hurt the Jets allowing them to have access there. Guy asked a favor, told him it was to see the play that the two owners had just attended and that was it. Should Mara have told Woody? Yeah probably, malice intended? I really dont think so. When the Jets beat the Fins by 2 scores in 24 hours no one will give a rats ass about this.
The practice facility thing is a non story really. The Dolphins are practicing in a climate controlled indoor facility and the weather tomorrow is gonna be COMPLETELY different than it is today anyway. This was a matter of convenience for the Dolphins and the Giants were gracious to them. It's their facility, if they wanted to loan it out to BangBros to do a porno there they could. Rutgers isn't doing anything, we finished 4-8 this year. If the Giants said no, I'm sure our AD would have let them use our practice bubble.
I am glad to see most Jet fans see this for what its worth. Anyway it does suck that the Giants are stuck in K.C. Its apparently an hour flight to Minny and the NFL has not yet changed the time but could. I guess they could do like they did last year for the jewish holiday(not sure which one) and play the Giants opposite the Jets at the same time so that jewish people attending the Jet game could be home in time for the holiday observance. What a shame they do not play in old Metropolitan stadium. 3 Feet of snow and frigid temperatures are always a fun watch.
Oh man the Jewish thing...we had quite the thread about that. It's locked up somewhere in the TT forum...fun times. They'll prolly change the start time of the Giants game they don't really have a choice.
They probably should change it, but based on what I have read the Giants do not want it changed. Knowing what a wackjob control freak Coughlin is I assume he has a plan in place to act as if tonights a pre game night in K.C. with plans to fly, get off the plane get to the stadium and prepare that way. Maybe they dont want to hear Antrell Rolle bitch again about too much down time at the stadium before the game.
haha...I haven't been following the Giants terribly closely how was Rolle been playing? Worth the huge contract?
Games been postponed to Monday...too much snow on domes roof...and that is why football is meant to be played outside. Yes Rolle has been very good. I would like to see him make that big pick 6 score type play, but the Giants have been using him more in the box and as a blitzing S at times. He has been a huge upgrade from last year, but placing a body with a pulse would have been an upgrade over 2009. One thing I think they have been doing is keeping Philips back from LOS more as his knee continues to strengthen. Giants best safety has been Deon Grant, who altough not a starter seems to make big plays at key times. Rolle has been fine though, I am still waiting/expecting that big pick 6 scoop score type play from him, but he has been fine
If they were smart they'd make this a 6pm Monday night and have a back to back monday night schedule. Make the Baltimore game a 9pm start. Both fanbases are diehard enough to make the changes, not that there will be a problem making the BAL-HOU game a 9pm start.
