Yep.. Mara/Tisch brilliant owners, Gittleman "all about winning" , Shurmer a coach who took Vikes a long way, draft a QB and bingo ..back in business Jets ...we just step in sh*t don't we?
This kind of assures mediocrity for the Giants. Pat Shurmur might be a great X’s and O’s guy but he doesn’t seem like the leader that will keep Giants locker room under check. Also he seems like a thin skinned guy against the media if rumors are correct. Now all I want from Giants is to extend Eli and assure another 4 years of bottom dwelling. John Mara seems as clueless as Woody at this point.
they are looking at del rio for DC apparently. While i like del rio, and i like shurmur as a OC, i'm not sold on him being a good head coach. the giants have some head cases to deal with, a QB who seems to have authority over the GM and coach but is aging and ineffective, and a new GM as well. I'm not sold on gettleman either. He's only done 3 years as a GM in his history all with Carolina and he didn't little to improve them. 2013 he drafted Lotulelei Short kugbila aj klein barner none of those are really big names or that good. i'm sure a few arne't in the NFL anymore 2014 benjamin - traded away for a 3rd and 7th after taking in the first round ealy - traded him away for a 2nd round pick turner boston benwikerie gaffney 2015 thompson funchess williams mayo artis payne 2016 butler bradberry worley sanchez sandland I mena how many of them contribute to Carolina? he was then fired before the 2017 season and after the draft (where he reached for mccafery 7th overall) he's known for reaching and trading away good players and also has drafted poorly and has had issues bringing in free agents and improving the team. carolina is worse off then it was when he started. he sitll never got cam any real weapons
That's a bad hire, but they probably couldn't get anyone better. Giant fans overrate how lucrative their HC gig is though. They want someone to come in and rebuild in a tough division and all on a short leash of course. I wouldn't take the Giants job either if I was one of the Patriot coordinators or the other top candidates.
What hurts the Giants is the perception that Shurmur is a fall-back and that Matt Patricia, their first choice, chose the Lions over the Giants. No one knows, of course, if Patricia will be a successful head coach, but the media was trumpeting him as this year's hot candidate.
I love it. The giants hire the guy that just had his doors blown out and the team didn't even show up in the NFC championship. Should be more comedy for the Giants over the next few years.
Apparently the Giants are hiring James Bettcher to be defensive coordinator. He's the guy who replaced Bowles as DC of the Cardinals, and also was offered the DC job at Tennessee (after just being fired on Monday). Expect lots of blitzing. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-become-new-york-giants-defensive-coordinator
