they're so used to being better than the jets that the last couple yrs has turned them so bitter, us getting to the AFC CG and them choking in the final weeks of the season. I hope to hell our team is able to step up and stomp on them next weekend
The possibility of the Giants or Dolphins ending the Jets season, I think after all the shit we've gone through this season, would be worse than even the feeling of missing the playoffs. I'm at a point where I don't have very high expectations of this team if they do make the playoffs, but I cannot fathom how horrible it would be if the Giants or Dolphins eliminate our team. Bleh.
The thing that I don't understand about Giants "fans" is how they think that there is a "rivalry" between us, and hate us like they do the Eagles, Cowboys or Redskins. Some "fans" I know actually rooted against the Jets yesterday. FUCK THEM. THE "FANS" AND THE TEAM. I pray we can embarrass them like the Redskins did. They always have the Jets on their tongues and talk shit when we lose. As Leon said, I'd have a hard time thinking that our season would be ended by either of our next 2 opponents. My Xmas, new year, everything would be ruined.
How is that any different than how Jets fans feel about the Giants? Were you rooting for the Giants to beat the Skins yesterday?
I loathe Philly And I despise the Cowboys more than any franchise in pro sports, not a huge lover of the Skins at this moment. Any Giant fan rooting for the Eagles yesterday is an asshole. Now if yOur reason was because you want them to play Dallas hard I can understand that, otherwise makes nO sense.
I would never try to hide my utter disdain for the Giants. I was born and raised a Jets fan yet I've had to sit through: *Jets being treated by the media like the bastard step child for years and years *Playing in Giants fucking stadium *Watching the Giants win 3 World Championships and play for a 4th, while in my 38 years, I'm yet to see the Jets even make the big game. Call it jealousy. I have no problem with that. I loathe the Giants. However, to be fair, I never met a Giants fan that hated the Jets. They either seemed to feel bad for them, or never viewed them as a threat to their NY dominance so they actually rooted for them to an extent. I left NY/NJ 7 years ago, so maybe since Rex came and the media coverage is more Jets oriented, things have changed?
yes i was.but that had more to do with the point spread then anything else. f.t.r. i nothing the giants
I have never met a Giants fan who doesnt hate the Jets. They think that we are bigger rivals than them and the cowboys which is a complete joke.
Giants fans are the same as Mets fans. They seem to be more obsessed with how the other NY team is doing than their own team and will go as far as rooting against them for achieving any success. Never understood how a fanbase can dislike a team that isn't even in their conference but alas. To me the Giants are an NFC team and outside of a few players(Jacobs most notably. Absolute meathead), I don't mind their players. No I don't go rooting for them but do I despise them? No.
This is how I feel..... I don't like them, but really could give 2 shits either way. As a METS fan, I feel the same about the Yankees....they're in the american league, and before interleague play they didn't play each so, so who cares.... but often dislike the "holier than thou" attitude of both fanbases To answer CJLang's question: yes, because I thought it would eventually have a positive outcome in regards to the JETS game.
That's pretty much me, I hate them but I absolutely rooted for them when they played the Pats in the SB. Sorry call it New York Pride over Boston shitheadism.
Not only is this game important for the playoff race, but a win couple with a dallas win would knock the giants out of the playoffs. If the Jets then go on to beat the dolphins and get in the playoffs I feel that would truly mean that the Jets will have become the alpha team in new york.
Great fucking post. I'm giddy with anticipation about the possibility of a win against the VaGiants, but I shudder to think how horrible it will be if the Midgets get payback for 1988 and knock us out of the playoffs.
I have nothing against the Giants. I like Coughlin and I like some of the players on their team. I don't root for them but I don't root against them either. I see no reason why to act like a whining child like I do in the Mets-Yankee rivalry.
Personally, I find Jets fans more likely to obsess over the Giants than the other way around. A lot of us have little brother syndrome.
