Any VG sightings today ? I thought I heard his name mentioned late in the fourth quarter but didn't see anything in the stat sheets.

QB pressure = progress haha.... the game was too close to throw him in there and let him learn, as much as that sucks to say that.... perhaps the Chiefs or Raiders he can get more reps.

    He wears 56 doesn't he?

  5. I'm pretty sure he had an assist on that last sack in the final minute(if he didn't he should have) and acouple plays earlier he had a good QB pressure.

He's still not "there" yet...but I was pleased to see alittle progress in his pass rush. He seems to have added alittle swim counter move after his initial bull rush. I'd like to see him play w/ alittle more speed...hopefully that comes w/ time and experience.

Did a little calculating. According to the Jet home page stat sheet he has 5 tackles total 3 solo and 1 assist. That would mean That he has been paid 18,437 dollars per tackle this year. Good work if you can get it

I saw one play where, as usual, he attempted to just run through the T, but after a little while with no progress, he whipped out a swim move and skirted by him, applying pressure.

That was a good sign to me. It's very obvious still that it wasn't natural, that he had to think about it- but the fact that he used one, and it wasn't too bad a move either is encouraging.

That's a step in the right direction. I'm still seeing uninspired play, and an ineffective bullrush, but that he has added a swim to his arsenal is very, very good. Now we just need that, and a few other moves to come naturally to him at the start of the play.

Wow, he makes less per tackle then Brett Favre. What a slacker our QB is.

Jesus Christ, this is depressing. I feel like we're talking about a person coming out of a coma, relearning to talk and walk.

I thought that sack was him until I got home and watched the TV broadcast, then I could see Ellis got there first. Aside from being amazingly ugly, those Titan uniforms make it hard to see who is who from the stands.

Just think how much stronger we would be if VG would be a contributor. It amazes me that so called "fans" like you do not want to see your team be as strong as possible

As for Brick I think not only him but the entire OL stunk up the place in the 1st half. They did however improve a bit in the 2nd half.

And you think this is the finished product five games into his career with limited pre-season? If you remember, Marvin Jones barely got on the field his rookie year, then he got hurt and missed the last 7 games of it. He turned out ok.

  15. How did the OL stink up the place in the 1st half? Favre had MORE time to throw in the first half than he did in the second half. The sack returned for a touchdown was a lousy blocking job by Chris Baker...had nothing to do w/ the OL.

The end of the VG saga is still to come but at this time by not contributing he makes the team weaker plain & simple & since the goal supposedly is to have the strongest possible team we fall below the that mark cause we have a non contributor on the roster

The good news is that Gholston is starting to get some national recognition. In this week's ESPN magazine Gholston is ranked as the 2nd WORST tackler in the league. Nice to finally see a Jets player get noticed.

H'mm the DL was making BF throw the ball early with those blitzes which must have confused our guys. If you saw something different then I did then go back & relook at the tape. I saw that #86 flub up that pick 6 & was not referring to that. It seems to me that you as others here are willing to accept medicore as being "good" instead of looking to make the team stronger & stronger. I suggest you read G. Myers in todays Daily News

Well I think Mangini should give him a reward for that contribution

Champ, of course I'd love to see Gholston be further along in his development and want to see him wreaking havoc, but it is what it is.

Maybe that's Jet fan complacency, or maybe it's me understanding in sports that some guys take more time than others, and sometimes those guys wind up contributing exponentially more and develop into exponentially better players than the guys who can immediately perform.

I'm hoping that's the case with Gholston. I don't know if it will be. But I sure as hell ain't gonna write him off 5 weeks into the season when we have a winning record.
