I have been a member of this site for a while now and usually prefer to just read about other people's opinions and thoughts, which is highly appreciated considering i live in Sweden. But this latest Landry quote just ticked me off:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...on-landry-vows-hell-keep-headhunting-for-jets

I love Rex. I love this team and the way they are competitive despite all the criticism, pressure and doubts they endure. But this kind of stuff, albeit part of the atmosphere that rex brought to NY, has to have some limits.

I am so tired of seeing 1-2 Jets related articles on the frontpage of NFL.com. It is almost never anything positive about the Jets, but rather another citated corpse for the media vultures (and the growing "hate-base") to feed on.

What i want is this team to have an attitude, to be tough, but have the common sense not to use phrases like "head hunting", especially at a time when the NFL is so ruthless with its player safety gavel.

    Just had to vent.

This is just the type of player that Landry is. He is extremely physical and likes to intimidate opposing players. That being said, using the phrase 'head-hunting', is just bone headed. I love the way Landry plays the game and has no concern for his body, but he needs to be aware that comments like this could potentially lead to trouble.

That picture was taken right after he got out of knee surgery. The morphine was flowing through his veins.

Just kidding, I don't know when this was taken. When I found this picture I laughed extremely hard.

Landry's a one year rented goon. He won't be back next season. Not because Rex won't want him, but because the Jets won't be able to afford him if he remains healthy. Heck, even if they could I personally don't want him back because he will get injured and will eat up millions on the sidelines. Its just a matter of time.

I want the Jets to sign Landry after this year so bad. The only thing that worries me is his injury problems. He adds a toughness to this defense that we have been lacking.

Remember Eric Barton? There's a thin line between intimidation and outright thuggery and Landry is right on that line and it's going to cost the Jets big time sooner or later.

I don't like the head hunting comment but other than that I like that the team is fired up. It reminds me of the Pats playoff game, let's hope they play w/ the same rage and execution on Sunday.

I'll take a feared thug playing safety over Kerry Rhodes playing soft any day.

I'd rather let him walk and let others pay him fools money in the offseason. I'd be more than satisfied with Matt Elam from Florida to team up with Antonio Allen. I'd go from six to midnight if the Jets got their hands on Elam. There's a tough, hard hitting player who doesn't say stupid shit, and he's not injury prone.

I love LaRon, I love his toughness, I love his attitude. He wants to go in for the kill every time he goes for the tackles. He really adds a toughness to this team that we haven't seen in a while, and its just so fun to watch. I hope we can resign him after this season. Love this guy.

  13. I'm not surprised than some of you are finding any reason you can to find negativity with every possible facet of this team. I've got no problem w/ Landry talking. For 1, he backs it up. Secondly, this is the type of attitude your players need to have if you are gonna win w/ a physical, defense first type team.

I don't ever recall Rodney Harrison, James Harrison or hell the entire 70's Raider teams being so detrimentel that it hurt their franchise.

C'mon people. This league & national media has pissed on our franchise so many times..who cares what outsiders think anymore? I hope Landry head hunts every day he is wearing green & he continues to play like an all pro. Those of you bitching & moaning in this thread are too scared to allow this team to reach greatness

What a fucking goon. Way to ask for unsportsmanlike penalties on Weds.

  16. Did I say it was the fan's fault? No. But jesus christ...some of you complain about EVERYTHING. If the jets have big names, then they have no chemistry & the guys are selfish, if they have a hustle first overachieving group then suddenly the team has no talent and the FO can't evaluate talent, If the team is quiet in the media then they have no fight, now Landry speaks out as the defense's enforcer & now comes this thread.

People complain for the sake of complaining. Give this team & its players a chance to be themselves. Landry is playing like an all-pro..and maybe his comments are risky..but at least he's being himself. Let this team be who they are for goodness sake!

I'm all for re-upping Landry. Love his attitude. Tanny - make sure you have injury provisions so our cap isn't fucked up.

Even Bell is an upgrade at 34 years old. No complaints - best upgrades in the offseason were safety positions.

@Bradway - I do miss Eric Barton. He was an awesome player for us - except for the bone headed penalty that could have cost us the win against SD

It seems like every week people find something to complain about. Let his talk, let him play the way he's always played. If that's what gets him to get tackles in a game then let him. And he came in defending the team, not just randomly bringing it up.

Yes, but ... He's the worst tackler I've ever seen. He's the complete anti -Revis ... who keeps his mouth shut and plays the best technical game you'll ever see. I want to throw a brick at the screen every time I see Landry lower his shoulder to make a hit instead of actually wrapping up a ball carrier. 9 out of 10 times the receiver bounces away and it costs us a few yards. I admit that overall he's better than what we've had back there, but it just drives me freakin' crazy that the man refuses to make a tackle!
