Now I have seen it all! http://nypost.com/2014/12/10/geno-smith-talks-pro-bowl-in-new-height-of-delusion/ Geno Smith talks Pro Bowl in new height of delusion By Brian Costello December 10, 2014 | 1:34pm Modal Trigger Jets quarterback Geno Smith at an event for The Coalition For The Homeless this week.Photo: Getty Images MORE ON: NEW YORK JETS Sean Payton? Nick Saban? The splash Woody Johnson must make Jets special teams coach talks boldly of job he'd rather have Don't tell Rex Ryan he's getting fired: 'I'm not going anywhere' Jets and Titans actually playing for Mariota hope Well, Geno Smith has not lost his confidence at least. The Jets second-year quarterback has struggled through this season with 12 interceptions and two fumbles to go along with just eight touchdowns. He was benched for three games in the middle of the year and is the lowest-rated passer in football. But he still thinks he’s had some Pro Bowl moments. “I’ve shown flashes of being a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback, but what we’re looking for here is consistency. The best teams have consistent quarterback play, and I realize that and that’s truly what I want to show to the fans and everyone outside the building,” Smith told Newsday at a charity event Tuesday. Um, what? Smith has had some games where he has played well. He started off strong against Green Bay early in the season, played a good game against the Patriots and even played pretty well this past Sunday after a shaky start against the Vikings. But there have been no Pro Bowl flashes. On Sunday, he threw the eighth pick-six of his 27-game career. Smith has three games left to show the Jets something. No one knows who will be making the decision on Smith’s future with the Jets, but no matter how well he plays to end this season, it is unlikely anyone will see him as being the answer moving forward.
Why not lol they take anyone now a days maybe even Matt Simms can get a spot, the pro bowl is a joke and taking these comments seriously is also. He's trying to save his job so obviously he will say whatever he needs to.
He has as much chance to be a Pro Bowl Quarterback as I do of being a female astronaut....... signed.....His father
Should at leaSt be given the chance to compete with the other new QBs. I mean, he's sprinkled some good throws amidst many, many poor ones... To his credit, he is the lowest rated passer in the NFL If they beat Tennessee next week he's gonna be talking Canton
That crap is coming from Rex Ryan. It almost feels like a direct quote from Rex that was said at practice or whatever, that Geno said. You have a coach who talks up his players and is constantly saying things like this and a dumb kid who doesn't know any better to not say such a thing publicly about himself considering the circumstances. Not the biggest deal in the world but also not the smartest thing.
Well - you've identified the second dumbest thing he could've said. he said the dumbest. The great thing about the english language is there are so many words that you can format a sentence for such a question in hundreds of different ways that sound better than your worse case scenario and Geno's dumbest case scenario.
Maybe he's not pro bowl caliber, but is it that crazy to think someone like Jim Harbaugh can get him to an Alex Smith type level?
