After inventing stuffing challenge flags into your sock our NFL genius once again revolutionized the game.

Bill Belichick might be in the process of revolutionizing the in-game deployment of offensive linemen. The Patriots have rotated their line combinations at a breakneck pace through three games, to the point where it’s a challenge to find anyone who has seen this strategy before. The criticism of the tactic might derive from a lack of previous examples, as people fear what they don’t understand.

The communication will suffer, they said. Yet the Patriots have shuffled their line personnel on a period-by-period basis during practice since training camp opened in July, so they’ve been making their calls with new voices for two months.

And the continuity will suffer, they said. But the Patriots offense has scored more points (119) through three weeks than ever before, and Tom Brady is 3-0 without an interception for the first time in his career. It must not be bothering the franchise quarterback.

The innovative tactic is resonating throughout the sport, too.

“I think it’s one of the smartest things I’ve ever seen,” legendary Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett said.

    “It’s genius.”

I think its ridiculous, so all their lineman have the same skill....the same retard who made Bob Vrabel a household name by throwing TD's too him, of course the regular TE could have caught the Td's but I made a Lb catch them, I'm a fuckin' genius!

So far New England has beat

Pittsburgh team at home w/ recorded headset malfunctions .. and while Pitt served their suspensions (Bryant & Bell out for the game...Brady active)
Buffalo ...on the road, 'a hard fought Rex Ryan team defeat'....'loaded with moral victories..that mean nothing' (Brady active 2nd game)
Jacksonville...at home ..(Brady active 3rd game)
    Bye

13 games left in the regular season. Many things still can happen...The Jets, injuries, player suspensions (Brady), and other cheating investigations.

FYI clicked on the link above ... Boston Herald article... my computer says it is bugged. Not surprised.

I actually cannot hate on this at all. Having played and coached D-Line i am very familiar with using this concept on the opposite side of the ball. Assuming most blocking schemes are now being called on the line this would keep their guys fresh later into the game. as well if someone is injured the next guy up won't be so raw. I wouldn't say he is revolutionizing that game, this has been around for years on D, but if they can keep the communication and blocking schemes going smoothly then it is a great strategy.

The courts already stated they won't consider an NFL appeal until after Feb. 2016 so Brady will not get suspended this year.

    Fuck the courts.

Also, OP, do you believe it is genius or cheating. I believe it is the latter, since that is what they are best at.

I didn't realize people were this delusional on this board. How the hell could substituting people be considered cheating?

If it's cheAting or another gray area of the rule book

Listen, he and Ernie have em lined up until the cows. Come home

He has to compensate for his deplorable drafting

  9. LOL...You know if the Jets tried this it'd be called a circus. Smoke & mirrors for lack of quality linemen.

I think it's interesting. But I'd expect some hiccups for sure. Teams catch on to the rotation, they can take advantage of favorable match-ups. Especially teams like the Jets loaded w/ an arsenal of DL weaponry & a multiple scheme to support it.

At least 36 players on the current roster were either drafted by or signed as UDFA's by New England. More than 66% of the defending SB champs. Including a Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Solder, Vollmer, McCourty, Mayo, Collins, Hightower, Gostkowski, and Slater. Many of which have been probowlers or all-pros.

I personally agree, the rookies + Kline have played above expectations after he disaster our OL was in pre-season, but I believe it's more about wanting to hide flaws and keep the two players who should be the guards of our future (Mason+Jackson) from sitting on the bench while not being forced to play a 3x rookie IOL. Kline playing as well as he has after 2014 is just a huge plus, because he was a train wreck last season when forced to play.

In all, better than expected play from young guys and also hiding flaws. Not revolution. I think calling it revolutionary is just plain stupid, and personally I hate not playing with a set OL, but our offense is the best in the NFL so far.

  12. In a way I'd actually like to see it work. Not for the Patriots sake but for the general concept. The game is truly won & lost in the trenches. If teams were able to stack OL talent the same way they do along the DL, Mix/match situationally,etc...that'd add a really interesting layer to the game.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't believe that you were alive for the first 4 championships. Does this make you a bandwagon fan?

I don't understand bow this is controversial in any way

From what I'm reading, it just seem like they rotate their OLine the same way a team with deep DLine would rotate throughout the game

    Am I missing something?
