here are some quotes from his recent interview "Gase admitted that he must improve his play designs, too. Better route combinations should theoretically lead to open receivers." “We’ve got to put our guys in the best position possible,” Gase said. “That’s where, for me, it’s getting No. 1 (first read) open. That has to be the No. 1 thing that we get cleaned up as far as on my aspect … Making sure that the quarterback’s first read, that guy’s open more times than not. I feel like, so far, that has not been the case. I haven’t done a very good job of making sure that that happens for the quarterback.” “I feel like they've had to work through too many progressions and that's something that I'm really looking at for myself to say, 'Okay, I need to make sure that these guys are getting No. 1 popping free.’ They can get the ball out. They get good completions. They get into a rhythm that will help the rest of the group get into a rhythm.”
That's a good first step. Now let's see if he can deliver on that. It's amazing that it's taken him this long to figure this out.
I’m still waiting for him to admit his running play designs have been bad too. Bell up the middle every time isn’t fooling anyone. He needs to design plays to have Bell get matchups with linebackers and get the ball in space.
Well, well, maybe he reads some of our posts... LOL. Lets hope he finally gets it and makes changes across the board. We'll see sunday.
thta's ok bell will bounce it outside then bounce back again to the other side and run 40 yards total to gain 4 after 5 broken tackles so it shows up as a 4 yard gain on the call list and looks positive.
He doesn't have the guys. He can't say that. There is no position that inferior talent beats superior talent enough through scheme. The problem as Gase knows is the other teams have tape of every game you play. If you can't block and push the D off the LOS you can't create enough space for inferior players to consistently make plays to march down the field and score points. The Jets have a third rate OL and WR. When we get our TE back it will take a little pressure off of Bell and open some things up that aren't available now. Luke Falk has two options, throw the ball immediately or eat it. There is no second read.
I’m guessing gase know this but can’t come out and say “we suck, there’s not much we can do about it now”
What in the fuck does this say? Antonio Brown is that you!? Don't you have an English class to be at?
So basically: He has to clean up his blocking schemes. He has to clean up his running schemes. ....and he has to clean up his passing schemes. Maybe his whole scheme just stinks.
Spot on. Gase has to get his #1 read open 10 yards down the field within 1.1 seconds of the ball being hiked, "more times than not". Good luck with that. Gase should get tons of credit for NOT pointing his finger at the talent level of this team, starting with the o-line.
Your probably right because this week in one of the articles I read about Douglas coming on board stated that AG told JD...welcome to mount Everest. If you read between the lines it essentially means what your postulating... WE may have shitty talent across the board but this team has look unprepared *except for D), has been outcoached each game including game 1 and play calling has been atrocious.
Yeah, because you have so many playcalling options when the majority of your offensive unit consists of 3rd stringers.
