Think we might have our #1 WR for a long time in Garrett Wilson. To me, this performance shows the high level of potential that he has.
Some of the literati here called him a flawed receiver that cant run good routes. About as a bad an evaluation as it can possibly get. The kid will be a leader for this franchise and anyone that watches football can see that. We have not had anyone like that in like ever.
Wilson showed that he has that innate feel for the game that the great ones do. That said, the league is going to be paying much closer attention to him so things will only get tougher. Still, I think he'll find a way to excel.
Wilson just finds ways to get open. It seems like when he's open he's often really open too. The occasional drop unfortunately but good hands overall and makes hard catches look easy pretty often. His catch radius is so much larger than his height indicates due to leaping ability+wingspan+hand size. Could be a bit cleaner of a route runner but he gets consistent separation anyway due to quickness and change of direction. Really good after the catch. He's very much in the Justin Jefferson/Stefon Diggs mold but Wilson is a little smaller and faster than them.
I was thinking the same thing as far as the comparisons. I can't remember the last time if ever the Jets had a WR with Wilson's particular skill set. I know it's only been two games but man this kid is fun to watch. So much talent and he'll only get better. We have a star in Wilson, hopefully he'll continue to stay hungry and motivated,
Yeah he's gotta be the most talented WR we've drafted since Keyshawn. It's so refreshing to finally have a couple young WRs in Wilson and Moore where it's apparent they're good immediately.
Which GENIUS decided 7 plays in the 1st half was just right in Game 1. I love these Jets coaches saying they had to get him into the game more. Like, who put mothballs on him in Game 1 ? Was he waiting for an invitation delayed by the US Postal Service ?
Did Al Toon have the overall speed? I remember Toon vividly and he was more of a possession receiver. I mean the game was vastly different so maybe my memory is off then.
Walker was the speedster, Toon had the hands and balls to come across the middle (which unfortunately ended his career)
Garrett Wilson might just be HIM. Dude put on a show Sunday and I can't wait to see what he does next weekend!
Ah, he's just a JAG... (just through that in, as this thread seems too positive). To me, aside from the obvious talent, he seems like he's got the perfect head, for a team in this market, but moreso, to help change the team's negative culture. He appears to be an enthusiastic leader, & a good guy to boot. And unlike so many WRs, he aint a Diva. So many talented athletes, yet so few have the head in the right place. I'm actually hoping as Zach works with GW, some of GW will rub off on him.
My favorite pick as far as need meets talent meets scheme since j Vilma in the Tampa 2. He’s going to be a star.
It's been fantastic seeing Garrett getting the attention this week. I have him on both my fantasy teams. I am thrilled - BUT, I have not seen credit given to Flacco for that throw on the winning TD. To me it seemed as though Garrett Wilson didn't even need arms to catch that throw. It was a dart, threaded perfectly. Stuck in there so fast that the Browns defenders didn't even seem to realize it. Does Zach make that same quick read and throw? I actually do not want to think about that too much.
