Studs Zach Wilson - Looked like a pro out there. He did have 1 high throw which got picked off but outside of that he led the offense well. Started us off with 3 TDs on our 1st 3 drives (when was the last time that happened) including running one in and throwing 2 more once of them on 4th down. Didn't really make any bad decisions, stayed in the pocket and just looked like a QB should look. really nice game from zach. Tevin Coleman - looked better this week, like he had more zip through the holes. racked up 77 yards on 14 touches and had 5.3 YPC Elijah Moore - pretty much a perma stud these days and clearly our best WR. had 6 catches for 77 yards and a TD. George Fant - Another great game by him. I didn't see any pressures let up by him. he's barely been allowing any pressures since taking over at RT. he's way out playing his contract and is a legit top 10 LT in the NFL this season Entire o-line - really the whole starting o-line was good. we had a solid run game and zach was protected well Duds Defense - I'm just throwing the whole defense out there. we were awful. philly with their bakcup QB put up over 400 yards and 33 points. They also didn't have a single punt until less then 2 minutes left in the game and that only happened because their C got hurt and the replacement came in the next play on 3rd and short and snapped it over minshews head for a 22 yard loss Kessman - missed his 1st 2 XP tries and then saleh refused to let him kick again the rest of the game. he's worse then amendola somehow. The Refs - I won't blame the loss on the refs, the D was awful but seriously that was the worst officiating i've seen ever. Saleh was pissed and rightfully so. All they did was keep extending eagles drives whenever we got a stop with phantom calls. They gave them the 1st on an overturn without even respotting and remeasuring, even gene who was talking about it as the "expert" said he's never seen that happen before. They also missed several blatent calls against the eagles. here is a list that someone put together of the awful calls they seen missed, "The PI on hall was atrocious. The no holding on Moore was atrocious. The no intentional grounding on Minshew was atrocious. The no helmet to helmet on Coleman was atrocious, and to compound that they called a personal foul on Mims that was very soft. There was were even 2 clear holds on the DL, at one point the Eagles Olineman was behind BEHIND JFM and almost had a chokehold on him because of his arm around his neck holding him back." Between the refs, our bad defense, and half time the jets went about 50 minutes without a meaningful snap on offense. there was a strecth in the game where the TOP was about 20 minutes eagles less then 3 jets.
Berrios ripped off a nice return... not sure we would have scored if he hadn't. Watching live I thought Mosely had a good game. Looked like he was in on every tackle. I'd like to see a deeper dive on the defense scheme we're running. I'm still of the opinion that it's an awful design... or at the very least ill-suited to the personnel on the field. We're giving up all kinds of yardage over the middle and we're getting run on... player positioning seems way too soft. If it's all hinged on the front 4 getting pressure... then it's not working.
eagles have a really good o-line and run game. they actually are #1 in the NFL in rushing. we shut down smith which seemed to be the game plan. we also stopped goeddart after allowing him to destroy us on the 1st 2 drives. I think he had 1 catch after that 2nd TD. I'm not sure what really went wrong yet. i'll know more on the replay but the D was bad and anytime we did make a play the refs screwed us.
Zach Wilson a stud? Not so sure about that. It wasn't his worst game but many of those passes were inaccurate. Tevin Coleman, Elijah Moore, and Bryce Hall were my studs for this game. Honorable mention to the offensive line.
nailed the officiating comment…I saw all Of those as well and couldn’t believe the calls officiating has been horrid all year and it sucks that coaches get fined if they speak up about it. How about we actually hold the refs to their job damn it they have been seriously terrible this year
60.5 competition percentage and a turnover. Missed some throws. No points in the second half. Those are their reasons.
Fooey on that. We all saw what he's capable of when he's not getting harassed when he drops back to pass. Perfection isn't in the cards... he's too raw. Let's look at his positives... - He's athletic... he can scramble to get away from pressure - He can make off-platform throws with accuracy and velocity - He's smart... by all accounts a film junkie - He's cute as a button... making sweatbands this year's fashion trend
Ive been thinking it has to do with playing Niclel personnel. If @GasedAndConfused can do this, I’d be curious how the defense played when MC was in and when he was out (he had a concussion). I maybe wrong but I swore the Jets went to a traditional 4-3 defense once Carter went out, so it was Mosely, Davis and Williams in the game. Conversely, I felt the defense played a little better in the second half, they just kept getting screwed by the refs on a few 3rd downs. Held to just 9 points in the 2nd half as well.
Giving up 9 points in the second half, I would have taken that any day of the week considering how the 1st half went. What makes it seem worse is time of possession, that was the key to the second half demise. The Jets offense never had a chance to put anything together in the second half. I'll consider the first half as a step in the rite direction for the Offense & Zach & see if they can build on it. One thing I am certain is Zach to Elisha is going to grow week by week eventually into one of the best QB/WR tandems in the league. Book it!
The reverse on The 4th down really boiled my blood! How was there definitive evidence. It was like 5 inches short, and that was called on the field. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Concerning Mr. Kessman. I'm starting to suspect coach Saleh does not subscribe to the "third time is the charm" theory.
